perform central line dressing change? In my state the board specifically states they can access them, flush, give meds, and dc them. I have looked everywhere for this answer.

It would make sense if you can do all the above then you can change the dressing as well....

That is something that isn't always determined by the state BON. If it isn't addressed by them, then it's up to hospital/facility individual policy.

My facility does allow LPN's to do drsg changes, but a neighboring hospital does not.

And keep in mind that state to state rules for LPN's vary greatly in what's allowed vs. not

Address this with your employer. If your state board allows you to do everything else with them they likely wouldn't have a problem with you changing the dressing. However, your employer may have a different policy. I worked for one employer who wouldn't let LPNs touch anything relating to an IV, whether they were IV certified or not.

as far as i know but i dont know what state you are from. well in my state i hang iv fluids/meds. iv push. and i change dressings on central lines. and i work on cardiac floor where we have a lot of central lines due to pt with chf and dm.

We LPN's are allowed to hang IV antibiotics, perform the flushes and do the dressing changes and that's it. Depends on your state and facility.
