Am I ruining my chances?

I graduated 4 months ago and took a seasonal job to save up to move for a nursing position I hoped I would get in another state. I didn't apply locally because I can't stand the area and didn't want to take a nursing job here and then just leave after orientation. I did get some great offers out of state and just this week, as I was about to accept an overnight Med-Surg position, the most important person in my life got some bad health news and I just know I cannot leave right now (I would never forgive myself, nor could I leave this person without anyone). There will be someone in my place in a couple months for this person. I'm wondering if 2 months will make a difference in getting hired for a new-grad position since I would be 6 or 7 months out of school instead of 4, with no experience. I'm not concerned about getting into a new grad residency program, I really just want to be able to get an overnight Med-Surg position at a hospital? What do you think? Am I ruining my chances?

It really depends on your area. My area hospitals consider you to be a new grad if you have less than 1 yr exp. I would call the hospital, explain your situation, and see how long they would consider you a new grad. Wishing your loved one comfort and healing. GL!
