My dream was to become a labor and delivery nurse. After working on Tele for 6 months I tranfered to nursery/Nicu. I ended up loving it. I started nsy/Nicu in Sept 2015 and found out we were pregnant with twins in March. I went on hospital bedrest in July 2016. Had the babies at 31 weeks in August. A few days after delivery it was found that our girl has shones complex and she required 2 open heart surgeries and spent 4 months in a Nicu 3 hours away. I had used up my FMLA in Sept and she didn't come home until December. I'm frustrated because I was given the option in November to come back to work or turn in my notice. I'm frustrated because I had to resign and over a year later I haven't been able to find a similar position. I'm frustrated that I had to make the choice between staying with my family and my job because we have such outdated maternity policies. I love my family and I know I made the right decision but I miss my job. I had to go back to work and now I'm a hospice nurse but it's just not the same.

That's hard. I'm sorry. I hope you're littler girl is doing better?
