  1. From the moment you received report she became your patient. You did exactly what any prudent nurse would do. It's not her place to make the decision on whether she believes a patient is experiencing true pain or not. I would report her behavior to a supervisor and I would never cover for her again. I understand that dealing with drug seekers can wear on a nurse but once you become that jaded you should probably take a break from that area from a while.
  2. Yes she is thank you I should have added that in..they are 1 now and she is doing well. She will have to.hage multiple subsequent mitral valve replacements throughout her life but she is doing excellent for now
  3. My dream was to become a labor and delivery nurse. After working on Tele for 6 months I tranfered to nursery/Nicu. I ended up loving it. I started nsy/Nicu in Sept 2015 and found out we were pregnant with twins in March. I went on hospital bedrest in July 2016. Had the babies at 31 weeks in August. A few days after delivery it was found that our girl has shones complex and she required 2 open heart surgeries and spent 4 months in a Nicu 3 hours away. I had used up my FMLA in Sept and she didn't come home until December. I'm frustrated because I was given the option in November to come back to work or turn in my notice. I'm frustrated because I had to resign and over a year later I haven't been able to find a similar position. I'm frustrated that I had to make the choice between staying with my family and my job because we have such outdated maternity policies. I love my family and I know I made the right decision but I miss my job. I had to go back to work and now I'm a hospice nurse but it's just not the same.
  4. Monday is my first day in the well baby nursery and I'm so nervous. I have been a full time day shift nurse on very busy Telemetry unit for 7 months. I will now be a part time night shift Nursery/NICU nurse. This is in the area that I have always wanted and I feel lucky to get the opportunity so quickly but I am just so nervous. Any advice you could give would be appreciated.
