After your monthly bills, what did you splurge on your nursing paycheck?

I know this topic was asked, but a lot of responses kept being repetitive on "bills, loans, etc." You spent 5+ years in school, studying, and working yourself out. You deserve to reward yourself after all the hard work you've been put through.

Just as the title says, what materialistic did you splurge yourself on?

I went to a 5-star steak house and got the most expensive thing on the menu (within reason). Then, bought a new computer the day after.

Keep in mind, I had to wait 4-6 pay periods, due to bills and helping my family out, until I could finally enjoy my hard earn money.

I went to Lush and bought some massage bars and some bath bombs for my partner and I.

We both have high stress jobs, with me working in critical care and him being an architect so once a week we like to just stay in and be bums.

Puppy. My previous dog died at the beginning of my last semester at the age of 14. I was a mess.

At a pre-nursing job my very first bonus purchased a pair of gold leaf-shaped earrings. I wear them whenever I need confidence. They remind me that I can do anything. Just like wonder woman's bracelets. :cat:

I splurge on travel. I try to take a long weekend getaway every 3-4 months with my husband. I've found that it recharges my batteries, and my marriage has never been happier.

I got a purse. I ever had had a nice one and bought a coach that I liked. I still use it although it looks pretty thrashed 8 years later. I'd rather pay off my loans now tho...and the cars....sigh.

Honestly there was very little splurging when I was a new grad. :no: My husband was an unemployed accelerated MBA student...he had to spin out into the regular program because we needed him to work.

We did go to eat at a local casino buffet though -- all you can eat crab legs and mussels and prime rib among other things for $50! (At the time...now it's closer to $50 each.)

Otherwise yeah, we lived pretty frugally. My pay was needed for necessities like rent and groceries.
