Hello all,
I'm starting this thread for the new applicants for the hrsa nursing scholarship 09-10. Tor prettylady, I think its a random selection. Its the luck of the draw.
I don't think they are sending out anything this early on but I pray I get this scholarship because it is greatly needed. I did not anticipate nursing school would be this hard on top of being a wife and mother. I know a lot of people do it and I am sure that I can to but I would be a lot easier without financial stress.
I know I really hope that we get it. I am headed to Troy University in AL. Does anyone know what I have to do to change my banking info. I know that they said to not change it but due to unforseen circumstances I had to close my bank account. It will not allow me to change the info on line.
i have a question. ive already taken out my student loan, and it is arriving at the school on aug 13, so if im accepted for this scholarship, what happens to the loan money that i used to pay my account balance, since fall tuition is due aug 13. will they refund it back to me, and the scholarship will take over, or send it back to the lender?
Im pretty sure that any loans would be returned to the lender. Most schools will waive tuition deadlines if they know you are waiting on a scholarship decision. They may hold onto the loan until you get the decision. As for banking info change, I dont know but I need to do the same thing. I say just wait til you get word on the scholarship then go from there. Good luck to everyone. Ive read the old threads from last year etc, and everyone was biting nails daily wondering about the decision. Looks like the notifications go out mid september and payments start early october. Also, no point in being hopeful unless you meet ALL the requirements; especially EFC of zero. Hang in there yall!
If you receive the scholarship your school will send HRSA a invoice for your tuition. They will take your cost of tuition and deduct your pell grant and any grants you may have received. HRSA will pay the remaining balance. Your student loans are not included. If you read the contract it will explain it.
