Wow, it's really sad to see so many postings w/in this past week of people wanting to quit/get out of the nursing field. At this point, it makes me feel as if I'm "forcing" myself to go through RN school in the near future, just so I can have a "stable-job-that-I-really-don't like." My mom is a RN as well, and was disheartened when she found out nursing was less about true "bedside care" and more political than anything. Oh well, I am still going to pursue school to become a RN (although I know it will take me longer than 2 years...b/c of prereqs AND the lovely waiting lists/lottery systems in California (yet another, tangent to go off on). It's hard to BECOME a nurse let alone BE a nurse these days. Things need to change and I hope/pray they do! I hope these people find other fields w/in the RN field to work in. I myself, have chosen private duty, and have been fortunate enough to like it. As far as what the future holds for me, not sure yet. Hopefully something fulfilling! Good luck to all! LVN's AND RN's
