have you tried LTC or NH facilities??

wow, I am starting to think not many nurses have worked with this equipment, it is fairly new, ANYONE out there using overhead lifts?? Pls tell me what you think of it!!:paw: Thanks

Hello All, Back in GA. I am originally a Texas girl and moved here as soon as I graduated with my BSN in 2005. My first nursing job was at Emory University Hosp., and I had an amazing experience there. Did that for 2 years then became a travel nurse in CALI for a year. Loved it!! Just returned to GA a month ago, for a couple reasons, and anyway here i am. I looked for a job for over a month and was lucky to interview with 4 hospitals in the area and was offered a job at each one. I am going with Grady, some may say I am crazy, but i am excited. It def wasn't the highest paying, but it is the experience i am looking for. I start orientation on the 20th of this month. Wish me luck. Renae

don't fret, I am an RN with 3 years exp. I applied everywhere. It took some time for them to get back to me but I scored and interveiw and then an offer with Piedmont, Emory, AMC, and Grady. I took the Grady position!! I am so excited. I have worked at Emory before and loved it just wanted to try somehting different. Good luck to you!

I sure wish I could tell you about Grady, but I just got hired and I start on the 20th, I am so excited!!! Everyone there seems so nice. I was interviewed by the staff which was different. What area are you interveiwing for??

Well to make you feel a little better... I have been a nurse for 3, which is not that long to many, but i LOVE being a nurse. Of course I have had days that I come home crying, upset, angry, sometimes just ****** off, my feelings may be hurt by a co-worker, patient, doctor, whatever...... BUT, there are always those days that I get a rush, I learn something new everyday and know I have the potential to make a difference in someones life. The days that your patient or co-worker gave you a sincere "thank you". I remember these days. It's worth it! In the 3 years I have been a nurse I have learned so much, gotten to travel and even made a few friends I will never forget. Traveling was awesome!! There is so much to learn and so many different things you can do as a nurse, so many fields to explore!!! You can do this!!! Don't give up!!! there are many many more nurses out there who still have a positive attitude and love their jobs!!!

The south is def low paying, i have 3 years of exp and just accepted a new job making 24/hour in GA. Now thats just insulting!!!

Just something to think about.... Most hospitals in my area don't hire LVN's anymore. If LVN's have been on staff for sometime they are now being told they have a certain amount of time to get their RN or they lose their position. 2 hosptals I worked for in CA were the same way. Just something to think about. The RN program (ADN) isn't that much longer that LVN program.

Have any of ya'll worked somewhere that utilized overhead lift systems (installed in the ceiling), and if so were their any problems with the system?? Did this benefit your unit?? Did more RN/CNA utilize the equipment more than the mobile lifts we are all used to (if you were lucky), some places do not even provide that?? Pls let me know your thoughts on this and what system your unit currently uses (if any) to help prevent pt and worker injury. THanks
