GCU Summer 2015 hopefuls!

Published

Hello GCU summer applicants!

I figured someone else would have started a thread by now, but since they haven't I figured I would since the deadline is approaching in less than 2 weeks! I just wanted to know how everyone's application experience is going so far? Hopefully we can answer each others questions and this thread can serve as a place to share experiences especially while waiting for decisions.

I have my background check completed, my fingerprinting is in process, and I'm taking the HESI this week. I am super nervous!

I can't wait to hear from any of you who are applying! Don't be shy :) and good luck everyone!

There was no official email. I just simply emailed my old advisor and asked her if it was true and she said yes. Not once has an advisor reached out to me about ANYTHING from the beginning of this application process. I've had to hunt them down for everything. So I'm not surprised at the lack of communication but I am SHOCKED beyond belief at the unprofessionalism from this seemingly prestigious school that had such amazing reviews.

From what I heard through the grapevine, they are thinking about completely doing away with the fast-track program and only really catering to their current students. They don't need transfers anymore to fill a class basically. They may be shooting themselves in the foot. As a for profit school, you'd think that they would want many students and they would want something that is appealing that can't find anywhere else. The reason I applied was for the fast-track option. People come from all over the nation to attend their fast track option. I honestly think they just dropped the ball and didn't get enough done to be prepared for the summer semester.

Maycation, where are you hearing this from if you don't mind me asking? :( I really hope they don't do away with all the fast track options.

I also applied for the summer program and also found out today they were canceling the program through the grapevine......I also got the impression that they were doing away with transfer students as well. After talking to someone at the school they seemed pretty unapologetic about the situation and didn't seem to even care about the fact that they have had us all sitting here waiting for the last six weeks only to find out the program was canceled. It sounds like if you are not a GCU student then your chances of getting in just went down significantly. Similar to Maycation it sounded like they are not going to be offering the fast track program anymore because the current students want a traditional track program meaning they get Summers off.

Wow...just wow.

I heard from multiple people. Those who went to the session and those who got emails. I think the webinar on Friday may be to tell us off completely. The least they can do is let us have priority for the Fall, but it doesn't seem like they care at all about us or even their current students.

Wow, this is insane :( I can't believe a university would do this...

The tone of the email I got was so inconsiderate. It was like they were doing us a favor by even letting us apply to their prestigious school. It made me disgusted. They just crushed our dreams and they are "sorry for the inconvenience"?

They definitely don't care about us they have made it very obvious. They were going to make us all wait another five days to find out that they canceled the program! I agree that I think we should get priority in the Fall considering how they have treated us and how ridiculous the whole process has been....but I just don't see them doing anything like that.

I didn't apply for the summer, but I really want to call tomorrow and see what the heck is up...

In 2013 they accepted 600 students to the summer start date. I'm curious how many people they're screwing over.

Seriously? That is insane...
