GCU Fall 2017

Published

Is there anyone else applying for GCU Fall 2017? I thought we could start a thread for all of us as we count down the days for deadline and the dreaded wait.

Hey Ssbal, welcome to the group! What are your numbers and which tier do you fall under? I feel like these last ten days of the countdown are going to take forever!

I am in tier 1! My GPA is a 3.95 and my HESI is 92% overall, but I got a 96% in the anatomy section which makes me really hopeful. These ten days are just going to drag on and on for all of us!

You have awesome scores! I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. I wish the wait wasn't so incredibly long. I've been told it's the GPA and HESI that decides who is accepted...it seems it could go faster. If only we could be behind those doors to see how it's all done.

Hey everyone! I applied for this past summer and was denied because I was a tier two. Currently taking summer courses and applied for this fall as a tier one. I have a GPA of 3.8 and a HESI of 90%.

I can tell you from my experience that I did not receive my email until about 5pm on the 15th of of February. I am sure it will happen the same way for this application period as well!

Hey http.kenny! Curious to know how you found out this info about applicants dropping out?!

At this point, I'm in the dark about cohorts and even hospital locations for clinicals. I honestly think they're moving faster because about 200 dropped from applying this semester and changed so they could apply for spring. I'll be checking my email like crazy this week because, apparently, this week is when people will start finding out whether they got in or not.

Welcome Belu! I applied the past two and was denied for the same reason, I'm not even sure what the point is in having the other two tiers available. You have great scores as well though so hopefully going tier one will be all you need...that's what I'm hoping for.

I totally agree! It is pointless allowing students to apply when in reality their applications are not ever even looked at. I transferred in to GCU Spring 2017 because my university counselor told me that the last summer session accepted students in tier three. Obviously quite a bit misleading!

I am worried because I have no idea what I will do if I don't get in for the Fall session :/

Hey http.kenny! Curious to know how you found out this info about applicants dropping out?!

Hey Belu5! A friend of mine, who is also a nursing major, works for GCU and is able to see everything that goes on within all of the programs. She told me right before the end of the year that a lot of people started to drop form this application period (probably because of GPA or HESI scores)!

That is too bad but definitely makes me feel a lot better about my application!

Can someone explainn the tiers for me? My SSA did not mention that.

Hey Jen!

Students in tier one have taken 24+ credits at GCU

Students in tier two have taken less than 24 credits at GCU

Students in tier three have 0 credits at GCU

The more GCU credits the higher the pool you get in!

Did you also apply for Fall?

Yes Belu, I feel like there must be a habit of misleading students in that way. When I initially transferred I was told the same things. After I realized the reality of it I felt like I needed to keep trying with gcu.

I considered trying for ASU as well but I do like how GCUs program is done. I like that they are heavier on clinicals. I just hope that neither of us have to worry about what to do if we don't get a spot this time.
