Gateway Part-Time Nursing Students...

What is the schedule like for the Gateway Part-Time Nursing Program? Does anyone work full-time?

I was wondering the same thing. I would like to get into the weekend/night program. I haven't applied yet. Do you have to take NUR 158 first? I was under the impression you had to before you applied.

NUR158 is not a pre-req to apply, these are the pre-reqs listed on the application:

CHM130+CHM130LL

BIO156 or 181

BIO201

PSY101

MAT 120, 121, or 122

Specializes in ER.

So are those the pre-reqs for the LPN or RN program?

They are pre-reqs for the RN program.

I have a B.S. and some masters level courses, but they are from out of state. I went to college in Detroit, so I will have to have my transripts evaluated by the college to see which courses they will accept from my undergrad. So I guess that is my next step. I am going to see whether it's better to just do the missing pre reqs and then apply for the RN progrma, or do the LPN and work on the pre-reqs for the RN in the meantime while I am on the waiting list.

i called gateway and they said the schedule is 2 times a week in the evening most likely wed n thurs. clinicals are on a fri or sat. so your looking at 3x a week.

I do work full time, and will be starting the Gateway part time program in January, so I'm also interested if anybody knows what the schedule is like.

I am currently in the Banner Nurse Fellows part time program at GWCC. I can tell you that I personally don't consider it a part time program, but a flex program. I attend class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm and Saturday clinical from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm. It is an extremely rigorous program and I am certainly humbled by my student peers who are working full time and have families with young children. If you want it bad enough, you can accomplish it. Make sure you have a strong support framework because it is a sacrifice for the whole family but one that will be worth it in the end!

Congratulations on getting into the Banner Nurse Fellows Program! I plan on applying as soon as I finish with my pre-reqs. I too want to get into the part-time program, I don't have kids or a husband (don't plan to anytime soon either) but I do work full-time and may need to work full-time during nursing school...hopefully it can work out for me, if not than maybe I can work part-time. Any tips on getting into the program? Do you think volunteering at Banner would help?

I didn't realize that Banner had a part time Nurse Fellows program. I was under the impression that it was for the accelerated program only, as that is whats stated on Banner's website. How can I get more information on this?
