Gateway CC waitlist Or Maricopa Schools

Hi everyone! I'm getting ready to apply to a few maricopa schools. Gateway, Mesa, Chandler/Gilbert... can anyone tell me what the waitlist lengths are like now? I am so curious and most of the info i'm finding is from years ago! Thank you!!

From what I have seen, it is about 2 years regardless of location. Also, I believe Mesa has now gone 100% CEP.

Agree with the above. The traditional waitlist is still atleast two years...I submitted my traditional nursing app in September 2016 and have yet to be placed. CEP applicants are getting in quicker, but it is still no guarantee. Some of the schools are going to CEP only...and to add to the mess, the CEP applicant rubric just changed, so make sure you keep checking the main nursing website as info can/will change at any time.

Exactly what MissyT says...

2+ years minimum for traditional, quicker for CEP but you'll need to check rubric as it changed. Plus check whether the school is 100% CEP. Seems a lot of the outlying CCs are going 100% CEP, leaving the more central schools a mix of the two.

I just started in August with the university. I am currently taking online classes with them through to the end of the year. In January I will start with the community college in Block 1. So, as of now, I haven't had any "hands-on" clinical classes.

The university I am with started out with some general classes, but now we are onto actual nursing classes! The expectations are much higher in terms of your writing, yes. The classes are challenging but so interesting I love it!

The online (University) classes ebb-and-flow based on the classes you'll be in at the CC. Each University works slightly differently, I'm sure, but for the most part I think they will follow a similar pathway.

For example, right now I am taking a full 12 credit semester online. In January, 9 of those credits will be with the CC, so I will only be taking 1 3-credit class online. So, still 12 credits total, but not 12 credits online AND 9 credits with the CC!

There is the opportunity to take classes online during the summer (great time to take electives, for example), then back to CC in the fall, and more online classes with the University.

The waiting is the hard part - I know just how you feel! I wish you the very best and hope you get a place. Have you completed your pre- and co-reqs (the new rubric states that they ALL have to be done - non can be "in progress). Have you taken the HESI yet?

Great to know that you are enjoying your classes.

I am taking my last co-req (bio202), and I am also taking one humanity and a communication class to obtain my associate of science degree. I want to retake hesi becaus I have a lower score in English composite. I didn't realize before that CEP is that much competitive. After seen the new cep rubric, I have decided to complete my associate and to retake the hesi for becoming a strong competitor. I wish that they give same point for English and mathí ½í¸

What is the highest English composite score you have seen?

Yes, the CEP is pretty competitive. I can't give you exact numbers, obviously, because I'm not privy to them, but I was told from my advisor that there were over 300 applicants for 96 seats with Glendale CC. and about 100+ for Estrella that had 24 seats.

You can retake the HESI 3 times in 12 months (although I'm sure you already know that!) as long as there is a 60 day wait period between each retake. My understanding when I applied was that they took your composite for the English and Math - it seems like they might be looking at them as individual scores with the new rubric. But - yes, I would advise retaking the HESI if you feel you want to improve your score. You want to feel you've submitted your best possible application!! I used a lot of free online testing and also purchased the HESI book (About $30 new). They both really helped!

I honestly don't know what anybody else has gotten with HESI other than those who post their scores here online. I have seen scores on here of 100% though!

OmG!!! My total score is 85%. English composite (80%), and math (100%). í ½í¸¯

Yeah - 100% is rare though, so don't panic. Your math score is excellent, obviously - so just work on bringing your English up and you will improve the overall composite score!

I will say that to be competitive, you should be looking to get into the 90% composite score range. That's not to say you wouldn't get in with less, but that is what I was told by the advisors when I was in your position.

I will try to get 90%, but it's easy for me since English is my second language í ½í¸Ÿ
