Gaining weight

Hi all, just curious...does the weight on driver's license have to match with the one on license application?? if not, shoud I make a correction at dmv??

Wow, I don't remember having to PUT my WEIGHT on my nursing license application! Seriously? What on earth for? My hubby holds a professional license, and you can bet he didn't have to list his weight on the application!

But about your question: why should it have to match? Hasn't anyone ever gained or lost a few pounds? Don't correct the DMV. If that were the case, I'd have to be calling them weekly, LOL!

If you're required to put a weight, put whatever. It's not like anyone is going to weigh you before issuing a license!

The OP is talking about a driver's license. Why it was posted here, I can't even imagine...

My thoughts on that are that if you were ever to be pulled over by a law enforcement officer and they're on the fence concerning the truthfulness of what you have to say...I think a small thing such as the consistency of your stated weight with their estimation of your weight might be used by them to help make that determination.

I don't think you need to immediately rush over to DMV ASAP, but I don't think there's any reason to intentionally distort that info either.

The weight is used solely for identification. A 6'5" 280 pound man is a lot different than a 6'5" 200 pound man. I would put you current weight. Also, if you have major weight gain or loss. I mean a noticeable difference then you are required to notify the DMV. Other than that... everyone eyeballs it.

Oh, yes, yes.

OP - If it wasn't clear...when I said you didn't need to rush over to DMV ASAP...I just meant you didn't need to panic, drop everything and do it TODAY...but you really should put it on your to-do list for the near future, rather than wait 5 or more years to correct it then. This is an important identification document that really ought to be kept up-to-date.

There are states that put your weight on your driver's license?? I just checked mine to be sure (since I didn't recall having to give a weight at the DMV), and my license has no mention of my weight. (I guess my state figures that law enforcement personnel can manage to make do with just my height, race, color of hair, color of eyes, and photo for ID purposes ...)

Oh...I didn't know that we don't have to write it down an application. (sorry for the silly question...):chuckle

Some states prefer all stats as it makes Identification easier. Plus, if the cop is chasing someone in the crowd, they may not be near a computer to look at the photo and just getting info on the radio.

Better yet, if the suspect is 5'11 and black they might pick EVERY 5'11 black suspect. However if the weight is given as 167 pounds when they see me they can rule me out. :chuckle:chuckle:chuckle:chuckle
