any Ga Lpn's? I need some input.

Nurses Criminal

Published

I have applied for the nursing program for spring semester. I'm positive about it, however I am worried about being denied to sit for boards.

I have a misdemeanor on my record from 10 years ago for theft by taking, its not as bad as it appears, I was young and talked into pleading guilty for something I didn't do. I was a new mother, was told by my lawyer that I could plead guilty get a fine and be able to get back to my daughter and my life... So I did not thinking about how it would affect my future.

My concern is that it will keep me from getting accepted to take my boards. I have already talked to the nursing department at my school and it will not affect me getting in.

Anyone from Georgia have a similar situation that can give me any insight on what might happen?

BTW I contacted Ga board of nursing and explained my situation, all they told me was to apply and see.

I have a friend who went through the LPN course with me and she graduated; but was not able to take the boards. Only thing I can suggest is to have the records sealed/expunged; in which you will have to pay legal fees.

I have asked about having them esponged but they say I can't, I will look into having them sealed.

It didn't get me denied to go for my boards for cosmetology, I thought maybe this could be a positive thing.
