FY 2022 AF & Navy packets

Just curious who has packets in for Air Force or Navy for the upcoming boards in October  and how your processes are going.

I have a packet in with both services, hoping to get a coveted OR slot since they are very few and far between. I passed MEPS in May and am now just twiddling my thumbs until I hear what’s next.

Has anyone heard the numbers of billets opened for nurses in 2022?

I think all of them. But it is very tricky. I did not apply for the navy because I like the AF. Do you have any idea when will be the results come ?

On or around November 12. My recruiter said could be 2-3 weeks later as well

Have my packet in for the AF. Cleared MEPS in June, interview in July, and now just waiting on the boards. Any idea how many slots there are for med-surg/clin-med?

I really don’t know. What state are you from? Did you ask your recruiter?

California. I sent a message, but haven’t heard back. Just curious if anyone here knew.

How many nurses go to Navy ODS per year, does anyone know?

Just got.my BSN and stationed OCONUS with my husband (active duty) and employment opportunities are nil, so was hoping to out in a package for ODS.

Are my chances 0% without having any nursing experience outside of school?

Nobody is going to know.  Each branch takes differing numbers of nurses each year depending on retirements, separations and ROTC commissions.  The boards that make these decisions determine the number of selectees at the very end of the process.  A recruiter would be able to tell you only how many people they took last cycle, but that's about it.

If you can't find a GS nursing position on base (usajobs), I'd recommend you start working on an MSN (informatics and management don't require clinicals) or other degree so you can at least show that you're doing something with your time.  The Air Force and Navy both take new grads, but you missed the boat on that if you graduated already; the app takes 1 year if everything goes perfect.

Got word that they’ve been slightly delayed. No confirmation on a new date just yet.

Ah OK. Waiting games. Hopefully we will get an update soon. Is this coming from your recruiter ?
