Just curious who has packets in for Air Force or Navy for the upcoming boards in October and how your processes are going.
I have a packet in with both services, hoping to get a coveted OR slot since they are very few and far between. I passed MEPS in May and am now just twiddling my thumbs until I hear what’s next.
Has anyone heard the numbers of billets opened for nurses in 2022?

Hey, I have a packet in with the Navy. Kind of in the same boat as you. Cleared MEPS just fine, interviews went well... just waiting for boards.
Good luck!

I haven’t even done the interviews. My Navy recruiter hasn’t been responding for the last couple months, so I’m not holding my breath over this board. Super annoyed!
I have one more AF interview and that packet is ready, but they only have 3 spots for my specialty. Lots of waiting!
good luck! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I just have the Chief Nurse interview left and my packet will be complete! I’m in Washington. Is your packet ready?? I’m not ready for the next 6+ Weeks of waiting ?
Ah OK great. I have my interview too . It went well. Do you have any idea how many OR nurses they will get this selection? How it will be competitive.

There’s only 3 slots this year. Super competitive. Good luck!
That’s tough. Do you any idea what will be the criteria for the selection ?
Best of luck guys! As some one who is considering all branches, what pushed you to pursue AF?

As prior service Army, I have seen how much better the AF takes care of their people and families. I am not opposed to Navy, they just tend to have fewer spots than even AF, and the Army doesn’t take active duty OR nurses anymore (they use civilian).

I’m sure experience, references, and scores from interviews will play a large role.
The interview is really hard too. Hopefully we will know the results soon so that we can make other plans. When did you start your application process?

Which interview did you find difficult? I made first contact with the AF recruiter in February. Then I heard nothing from them until the beginning of August. We have been working rather quickly to make sure my packet is complete. I was just lucky that the Navy had completed my MEPS stuff in May and we were able to use it for the AF too.
