Today I found out I got hired in the CVICU. I am beyond stoked! any suggestions???
I know the CVICU is a lot more than regular units. Any suggestions on what I should read? do? prepare for?

Get your CCRN certification. The studying alone will open your mind to key concepts related to hemodynamics, pulmonology, the renal system and everything else related cardiac wise.
Then while fresh in mind, get your CMC and CSC as soon as you can.

Check out the web site CCRN Certification and CCRN Review - Cardiovascular Nursing Education Associates. They have a good cardiovascular nursing book and other educational products and classes. They even have online practice tests for the certification tests that you will eventually want to take.
Thank you! I'm starting to worry a bit that I'm not gonna have he knowledge starting out. I know the expectation is low for new grad but still....

I'm a big fan of Hemodynamics made Incredibly Visual. It seems like a fairly basic book because it has a lot of illustrations but it's an excellent resource especially when you're first learning about hemodynamics.
