Hello all :) I need some Help FUNDRAISING!!! I am currently a junior in the nursing program and was just elected President of my class. We're having a hard time coming up with fundraising ideas because of our busy school schedule. Can I get some long/short term ideas for fundraising please The money will go toward our NCLEX reviews and our pinning ceremony.

There are very few ways to actually make money with traditional fundraising events like bake sales, car washes, etc. The little money you make does not offset the cost of the time & money you put in. You're best off just having everybody write a personal check for the NCLEX review & pinning ceremony. And that's what my school eventually decided - we scrapped any of the traditional ideas and all wrote checks .(sorry, I know that's not a "fundraising idea").

I would agree that usually the cost/effort for fundraising is rarely worth it but one thing you could do is a walk-a-thon or something similar. You could also try doing a raffle and get local businesses to donate items/gift certifcates/etc.
So you could ask people to sponsor you for a walk-a-thon and then in conjunction also ask them if they are interested in buying raffle tickets for your raffle items. Bake sales can be fun but are time consuming and costly.

We are doing both a Sonic and CiCi's Pizza night where a percentage of the sales go to our program. We are also doing a jewelry sale with Silpada, too expensive though if you ask me.
We also did a t-shirt contest for a logo representing our nursing program and the winning logo/design will be put on t-shirts and hoodies that we can order to raise money.
We are also doing a "haunted psych ward" for Halloween and will be charging a very minimal admission fee. In the Spring, we will be having a auction.
The money we raise goes towards our community outreach projects and to pay for our Hearst Review before we take the NCLEX.
Hope this helps!

Wow, I'm surprised you have the option! Our fees for EVERYTHING just get billed to us. No class fundraises for anything, even the general college. Senior Week, paid out of pocket, all graduation expenses, out of pocket, nclex review, $250 tacked onto your spring bill.
In high school I did TONS of fundraising. Most of it wouldn't be good to use for a college nursing program, but maybe look into some generic stuff like car wash, selling t-shirts, sponsoring an on-campus event and charging admission, restaurant nights (% of that night's $ from some places like Papa Ginos/Papa Johns/UNO etc go to your group) or hosting a benefit, having local businesses donate items to raffle off, silent auctions, charge admission to get in, restaurants to donate food/light appetizers, etc. Good luck.

A great fundraiser is hosting a walk or run. Try and get a sponsor. You can get something like the american heart association or breast cancer awareness organizations and donate a percentage of the proceeds while collecting for your nursing school. A lot of people love the chance to participate in walks. Local parks are great for hosting events. I think people would be interested in donating to your school while also participating organization causes.

We are doing fundraising and on top of that asking each student to donate $10. We have fundraising teams that put prizes together to include in a silent auction. Items include movie tickets, gift certificates to restaurants, themed gift baskets, etc. I personally am getting a couple of tickets to a holiday concert to contribute.

us too - it was either sell a box of candy bars (which most of us probably would have just eaten lol) or pony up $25 - our entire first year class ponied up the money! We are selling sweatshirts etc though but they make good Christmas presents.

I too just got elected to the seat of President in our Level1 class and was here looking for the same answers. After reading many comments and ideas here and in google searches, I think I will offer the committee the idea of raffling off a tandem skydive to be performed by me.
