Fundamental module course

Published

My school is currently offering a fundamental 1 module course alonge with a clinical calculation course, they are not part of the Nur curriculum, but the Nursing department is offering it for students entering for the Fall semester Nursing students. I chose to take the fundamental 1 module course, unfortunantly the calculation course was closed. Has anyone ever taken any of these courses while in the program? and where they helpful?. They have been created to help the student while taking fundamental 1 and calculations for their first semester.

We had something similar for 1st year nursing students. They were called "workshops" and were 1 credit pass/fail. We were offered Clinical Documentation & Reasoning, Study Skills & Critical Thinking and Med Math. I found all 3 highly valuable. Of the 3, I didn't particularly need help with med math, because I "get" dimensional analysis. But the extra practice was worth it, especially for Peds calculations.

I would encourage you to take advantage of any supplemental nursing courses that are offered.

Thanks for the advise, yes, they also are 1 credit course. I will try and see if they open another calculation course, although i also "get" dimensional analysis, been practicing from my daughters L.P.N book.
