Full-time job, nursing school, and a baby?

I've been working as an LPN at the same office for about 3 years. It's a stable, 9-5 job, no weekends or holidays. However, I've been thinking about going back to school by completing an LPN to BSN program through work. It would take me roughly 3-4 years with prerequisites.

I'm getting married, and after the wedding we're planning on saving up for a new house that's bigger and closer to our families. I was also planning on going back to school after the wedding.

However, I don't know if I want to wait 3-4 years to have children. I'm almost 30, which is when I wanted to start a family by. Ideally, I want at least 2 children, and would prefer them to be not too far apart in age.

I guess I'm just scared of what I can actually handle. I know that only I can answer that question, but I'm curious if anyone here has been through a similar situation. What did you decide? Were you able to tackle a job, school, and a baby all at once? Did you wait to have children, or did you wait to go back to school? What's your advice?

Thank you in advance! ?

Hi there(: I too have been working as an LVN for 3 years. Got married a couple months ago! Now that I am 28, I am ready to save up to be a new house owner and have kids. However, I do want to start a LVN-BSN program. Even those programs are now competitive including programs in private schools in my area. Feeling a bit discouraged but I’m looking forward for replies to this forum as well!

Wow it looks like we have a lot in common with goals and current situations(: id love to chat one day! Please feel free to email me at [email protected]

Lots of us have had children while attending nursing school. It is very stressful, not going to lie. If you have a LOT of support from your husband and you have excellent child care options, it can be done. It's just not going to be easy; then again, we are not promised easy, and most things worth having require a lot of effort.

Start school now! You never know how long it will take to find a house and get pregnant. School is the one thing you can calculate the time needed. Good luck.

Hi i'm currently working 30 hours a week, in second semester of an ADN program and married with a baby under 2 years old. You can absolutely do it, and time will pass by regardless! At least try and get the prereqs out of the way before you get pregnant! Good luck!
