Just starting this thread up! This is for anyone planning on applying to FSW in the fall for Spring 2019 at FSW.

I'm currently finishing up my pre-reqs this summer 2018 term and will be taking the TEAS in the fall as well as applying to the program at the Lee Campus.

Reply back with,

What campus you are planning on applying to?

What classes you are trying to finish up before applying in Sept/Oct?

What program schedule format you will be choosing (Daytime or evening/weekend)?

Did you take the TEAS VI exam or how did you do?

Excited to hear from you guys and to help each other out!

I had upper 50s lower 60s. I don't remember exactly. The Fall stats were HIGH! I originally wanted Lee Traditional instead of ANEW but I do know the lowest they accepted into Lee Traditional was aroun 70 or 71. Spring typically has lower stats than Fall though so don't stress! You all will do well!

Hello, been lurking up until now, I am planning on applying to the ASN program at Fsw for Spring 2019. I have finished all prerequisites, have a GPA for those of 3.37 and I took my teas test for the first time yesterday and scored an 85% which I think I am sticking with. My total score is a 78. I am applying to Lee traditional and Lee ANEW as my first and second choices and the programs at the Charlotte campus as my second and third. I wish you all tons of luck and I hope we all meet up again in nursing school!

Awesome score!! I'm sure you will get in.

Hey Everyone,

I recently decided that I wanted to attend FSW. I immediately took the TEAS and scored a 79.3. I have one opportunity to retake the test before the application deadline. Any opinions on whether or not I should retake it?? I am beating my brains out trying to decide!

What is your point tally? And what campus are you looking to apply to?

Edit: So it looks like your point tally is 73, which is fairly competitive. I would say that it's not necessary to take the TEAS again, but it's up to you.

I would retake. It won't hurt to try one more time. How did you study ?

Thanks for the input! I plan on applying to all campuses but I live in North Port and work nights in Englewood so the Charlotte campus is my first choice.

I keep hearing about the ANEW program being nights and weekends? Is that correct? Do you know anything more about it?

Thanks again =)

I didn't have enough time to study. I found out it was a requirement a few days after talking to my aunt about attending and Sept 4th was my only available day to take it. My schedule has since opened up and I have the opportunity to retake it on Oct 9th. That would give me a good chunk of time to study. I was considering SCF because a lot of my coworkers attending there and they don't require the TEAS. I feel FSW is a better fit for me.

The ANEW program is a self guided study program where you attend campus for labs or exams and attend clinicals on the weekend. It is good if you have the discipline and need to work through school.

I also applied to the Charlotte campus. It's super small, but a nice campus. It's also the smallest cohort of all the campuses.

My only hesitation with retaking the exam is not knowing if you will score higher and you'll be out that cash. But if you get at least an 81, it'll be worth it.

If you study hard this month, I'm sure you could easily get over 81.

SCF is uber competitive becaus they no longer require the TEAS. Over 400 apps for 80 spots. People who have completed all 9 Prereq and gen ed courses (which are slightly different than FSW's requirements) get priority. It is my understanding that a lot of 4.0 students apply. And they have already given seats to students who had applied last period, which means there are less than 80 seats this application period.

I applied to SCF, but I'm not holding my breath.

Wow, I didn't know any of that! No wonder I didn't get in last semester. I took most of my prereqs at SCF and its so close to my work but my aunt actually graduated from FSW about 10 years ago and has worked in the nursing department. She loved it there and urged me to try and get in. I took some classes a few years back at FSW Charlotte and loved it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I might just go ahead and retake it. I'm sure it would only increase my chances.

I'm not sure the ANEW program would be a good fit though, I work every weekend overnight and trying to switch up my work schedule would be a headache! However, if that is my only option I will gladly take it!! It's nice to hear that the Charlotte class would be small!

Yeah, I feel like the ANEW program is not a good fit for most people. FSW's NCLEX pass rate is not as high as SCF, but I hear it is still a good program.

I am also applying to Keiser for their BSN Fast Track program. If I get in at Keiser, then that will be my first option. It'll allow me to finish my BSN in less time than the ADN at FSW. So, I feel like it's the obvious choice.
