FSW spring 2017

Published

Anybody applying for the nursing program at FSW for the spring in 2017? I plan to take my TEAS sometime August or September, does anyone know what the passing score is? And have you finished all your prerequisites and general ed? The only prereqs I have left to do is A&P2, nutrition, and micro. But still have all the general eds left to do. But you don't have to have all the general eds finished before applying right? Sorry, I'm new at this.

I put 12/2018. That would be our last semester right?

This is correct! We will be class of 2018

Done with fingerprints and drug test at labcorp!!!

Nice!! I'm going for fingerprinting at 4:15 today. I registered for the drug test/background check today, how long did it take you to get the go ahead for the drug testing?

Got my email!

First choice Lee

total points 62

GPA for Prerecs: 3.07

Teas score: 80

All classes completed.

I'm kinda curious, it seemed like everyone got accepted to do the second phase... do you think they turned anyone down and are just waiting to see if everyone passes the screenings and to see how they do on the "interview"? I also don't like the fact that we have to spend $100 for the background check, drug test and fingerprinting when we don't even know if we got fully accepted yet...

Yeah I was wondering too, I don't think that's the case at least I hope not. I do think it's a bit strange to get drug tested, finger printed, and backround checked without a "full acceptance". I wish we knew someone on the "inside" so they could tell us haha.

Hello Rachel, I registered last night and received the email to do the test early this morning...print it and go to the closest labcorp site...I did it at the one on Santa Barbara...took it like 5 min fingerprints and test

Okay thank for letting me know :)

Rachel and Katielyn,

Wendy from Charlotte told me that there were significantly less applicants this pool, and the fact that they only took a week makes me think that they had enough spots for those that had qualifying marks. I think that we really had it on our side that so many changes were made recently. For one, they made stats a requirement starting this application pool. If people weren't on top of it and constantly checking the website then they may have lost the chance to apply just because they didn't know the new requirements yet. Also this cycle was the first with strictly teas scores, no HESI.. Not to mention the teas changed. From what I'm seeing most of us were in the 60s. People with really great marks were still only 70s or 80s with an LPN license.

Every previous cycle I have read on here there were people that received an email stating they did not qualify as competitive, or if they did and there were not enough seats then they received an email stating they had more applicants than seats. I've yet to run across anyone who got a phase one email but then did not get a seat. I really don't think we have anything at all to worry about :smug: ( unless of course it's a matter of not passing the screenings)

Oh my gosh! That makes me so happy to hear! Congrats everyone!! I'm so excited:D

Has anyone called the school to see if our "going to second stage" is legit or figuring out if they just said that to anyone? I'm kinda curious to see how many applied to each campus and how many acceptances they sent out for each campus. Just to see if everyone who applied got the acceptance letter

So am I!! Beyond excited. I cannot wait until orientation. :woot:

Not sure if you saw my other reply regarding this. They do not send out the phase 1 emails to every applicant. If you don't qualify because of low GPA, teas, etc then you get a letter stating that you didn't qualify.

If you qualified but there were enough people with points higher than yours to fill seats then you get an email stating there were more applicants than seats. This also leaves you in a position to possibly be an alternate.

The people who get phase one acceptance are those that qualified and had competitive scores.

So if one campus has 24 seats, then 24 people got that email. If three of those people fail background checks and drug screens then their seat will go to al alternate who passes the checks. I'm pretty sure that this year the interview portion was added because it's commonplace for most nursing programs and FSW just revamped their curriculum to be more up to date with other schools using concept based.

Relax :smug: Unless you are going to fail any of the checks, I really would not be concerned with not getting full acceptance. If you read my last post there's more explanation there as well.
