FSW spring 2017

Published

Anybody applying for the nursing program at FSW for the spring in 2017? I plan to take my TEAS sometime August or September, does anyone know what the passing score is? And have you finished all your prerequisites and general ed? The only prereqs I have left to do is A&P2, nutrition, and micro. But still have all the general eds left to do. But you don't have to have all the general eds finished before applying right? Sorry, I'm new at this.

DawnDragon21: Good news for you my friend. I did happen to stumble upon a study guide that I think might prove useful for you. It's called Fundamentals Success A Q&A Review Applying Critical Thinking to Test Taking (4th Edition).

I wish I would have known about this book sooner. Anyway, I found it in B&N's Nursing section and decided to try out a few sample questions. I think pretty solid for a study guide that covers Fundamentals. Just keep in mind that nothing will replace your text books so when in doubt refer back to the books that you will be tested on.

Oh that's awesome! I'll definitely look it up and buy it whenever my schedule clears up!

Do we need a code from the teacher to open Nursing a concept based approach access card??? I am about to buy the access card online since I already got the books separately...I ll really appreciate your feedback

They will walk you through everything on day one.

That day is geared toward getting everyone on the same page and logged in to MyNursingLab. I believe our instructors provided us with a code to use for MNL even though we had an access code for both Concepts and Pharmacology.

Our class was broken up into 3 different clinical groups. Group 1 would attend clinical on Monday and Groups 2 & 3 would attend clinical on Friday. Sim usually took place once a month on a day that you don't have clinical or class. Each group would rotate throughout the month.

So for example, if you had clinical on Friday, you might have Sim on Tuesday the following week with your clinical group. And the week after you might have a CRD on a Tuesday with your whole class.

The schedule was pretty solid. I don't ever recall having to change a clinical, sim or a crd day.

Hope this answered your question.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! :) Im still just a tad confused. Mainly I'm wondering if there are ever weeks where school is 4 days. I know sim is on a non class or clinical day... But do you also have clinical if you already had sim? So for example if had sim on Tuesday during a certain week... Would your schedule that week also include your Friday or Monday clinical?

You can count me in on the study group! I also believe group studying helps me learn better than studying alone, so I'm in to join!

Dani,

It's definitely not uncommon to attend class 4 days a week.

So for example, lets make up a schedule and assign you to "Group 2". Your schedule might look something like this

Week A: Tuesday - Sim day, Wednesday - Practicum, Thursday - Lecture, Friday - Clinical

Week B: Tuesday - CRD, Wednesday - Practicum, Thursday - Lecture, Friday - Clinical

Week C: Wednesday - Practicum, Thursday - Lecture, Friday - Clinical

Now rotate week A, B & C every month.

Solus,

Thank you!!!! So much. That was exactly what I needed to know. I appreciate you taking the time to clairify that in such detail :)

Do you mind me asking if you're working during the program?

I work mostly for chump change but what I do for "work" is not in the context of what some of the other students in my class would do for a living.

We have a student that works a graveyard shift and comes in that day to class after shift. How that student manages to function, volunteer, keep such high spirits and make the grade, is beyond me. The majority of the students in our class work their butts off over the weekends with little to no time off and most of them are making excellent grades.

Anyway, I'm amusing that you will be taking Concepts, Pharmacology, Practicum and Clinical during the first semester. If this is the case, you will definitely feel spread out thin and there is always something due around the corner. Whatever "free time" you think you might have will most likely be spent studying for an exam around the corner or chipping away at future assignments, discussions, and so on.

It's a lot but it is doable.

Hi everyone! I'll be starting this spring at Lee Campus. I wish I would have found this thread sooner! I don't know any nursing students and it's been super lonely. I haven't gotten my books yet. Not really sure how I'm going to come up with the $1500 í ½í¸©. Is there anyway to purchase used books? I called the bookstore and she said they didn't carry any used, and they are not available for rent. So I asked her if everyone purchased them new and she said "pretty much". Is this true? Do you guys think it will be ok if I wait to buy my books in Jan, just before the first day? I'm not sure what the ATI bundle/receipt deal is all about, or if I need to get that ASAP. Any info helps!

are you getting financial aid? Because if you are you can take your Buc card to the bookstore and purchase both the nursing textbook bundle and the Ati carp bundle using your financial aid- they extended the amt of aid for nursing students. I'm also going to the Lee campus this January í ½í¸ Hope this helps
