FSW spring 2017

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Anybody applying for the nursing program at FSW for the spring in 2017? I plan to take my TEAS sometime August or September, does anyone know what the passing score is? And have you finished all your prerequisites and general ed? The only prereqs I have left to do is A&P2, nutrition, and micro. But still have all the general eds left to do. But you don't have to have all the general eds finished before applying right? Sorry, I'm new at this.

Hi there! I'm applying for spring 2017 Charlotte campus as first choice. Which campus are you hoping for ? I am also applying with the exact same prereqs left that you have (Finishing this fall)

fsw website states no less than 65% on teas to apply.. So it's not unrealistic. In our case only applying with 6 classes, we need to do at least decent on teas to stay in the average ( although I'm not sure what your GPA is and that also makes a difference )

I've been following another thread for Fall 2016 and it seems that the majority of those accepted had total admission points in the 70s. Some were as low as 62... So don't be discouraged by not having them all done.

Im confused about what you mean when you say general Ed classes? For the program you only need the 9 prereqs + all of your nursing courses for an ASN.

anyway- looking forward to talking more! :) I'm so excited that the time to apply is finally coming! Its been a long road just to get to this point so far!

Hello! We might be classmates then! I'm hoping to get in at Charlotte as well. Who do have for A&P2 this fall. I'm taking it with Dr. Wolfson. I'm taking my TEAS on Sept. 1st and I'm really nervous. I'm glad to know about the average points people got in the Fall. I heard that the Spring semester is not as competitive as the Fall since most try to get in the Fall. And about the General eds I just thought we needed more classes like foreign language and others. I did a degree evaluation on my portal and it had other requirements but ofcourse it's not an official evaluation. But if our pre-reqs and nursing classes is all we need, then that makes me happy. :)

I'm so glad the time is here as well, it seemed like it was such a long way to get here. I hope we do well on the TEAS and both get in. I wish you a lot of luck and positive vibes :)

Thanks for the positive vibes!! Same to you :) very cool that we might be clasmates! I haven't scheduled teas yet but I def need to get on it so I can retake if needed. Are you using any specific study guide ?

Im taking AP2 online at another school as transient. I did that for AP1 and im going to have the same professor, which I like because I know what to expect. There weren't really any on campus that worked well with my schedule anyway. I'm taking nutrition on Tues/Thurs mornings.. Can't remember the teacher. How about you? I might drop Micro and just take next summer since there arent any nursing courses during the summer. Only having two classes for the fall sounds like a nice break before starting the program in the spring. Lol.

I think when you run the eval it's giving you classes you need for an AS degree as well as ASN... So without the core nursing credits you would need additional credits from those classes for an associates. You do need all of those if you plan on continuing to BSN though.

I'm taking nutrition online and I'll be taking Micro on the summer aswell. I am using the ATI TEAS study manual and the ATI TEAS secrets study guide. I like the study guide because it comes with review videos and explains math problems in detail. What are you using to study?

Hello to anyone who may read this, I just took the TEAS 6th edition and wanted to let you know that they allow you to use a 4 function calculator on this new version. They provide the calculator.

Hey! Sorry for never answering your last question- I didn't get a notification that you replied. Ive been using that guide as well. I'm scheduled to test next week.

how did you do??? Did you find the ati guide to be sufficient/accurate preparation?? I'm so nervous.. Pretty jealous you already got it over with! Lol

I got an 80.7 which brings me up to 61 points. I ran out of time on my reading section and had 5 questions left. I'm afraid I won't get in with 61 points. The guide was pretty accurate except for the science. There were a lot of questions that weren't covered in the book, some were but not all. The math was pretty much the same and so was the reading and english. Let me know how you do!!! And good luck! also have a 3.4 GPA. I wanted to get at least an 85 on the TEAS to get at least 71 points ugh.. My mind is all over the placeí ½í¸³

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear you didn't even get to finish :( I know it's probably impossible to do, but try not to stress too much!!

Im kind of confused about your points though. I didn't think that between an 80 and 85 on TEAS was that much of a point difference? I also think 61 sounds very low? My prereq GPA is only 3.34 ( I got a C in stats that totally killed it. Blah) and when I last calculated, I was figuring I'd have at least a 63-64, and that was planning worse case scenario on the teas (75). I also have the same number of prereqs done as you (7). Are you sure aren't selling yourself short on your points?

I just went went to the site to try and pull up the grid again but it's gone! Do you still have one? I wonder if it's changing with the new format. If you go look all of the program info is updated, along with info for the new evening/weekend schedule... Which has summer start. So if that an option for you, you at least wouldn't have to wait until August :) it wouldn't be an option for me... So I'm just going to hold my breathe and pray a lot. Haha.

I have 6 prereqs finished. I do have another grid left, I can e-mail it to you if you would like. That's what the sheet said about my points with that score. I'm thinking about re-taking the test. I want to try again, this time finishing my whole test. I don't feel good about applying with 61 points. I don't want to apply for the summer because it's online. I'd rather be in a classroom.

Duh! I also have 6. Not sure why I was counting 7. Maybe I was wrong about the points... If you want to email me one that would be awesome! I'm not sure if we can PM on here but if so I will send you one.

I don't see any harm in taking the test again... Outside out the cost. But if it means that much to you I think it's worth it. I'm sure you'll do better after knowing what to expect.

Is it really online ?!! I missed that part. I don't see how they can do that. Crazy.

I just sent you the sheet, for some reason I can't reply to your PM here. Well the classes are online and you still do your clinicals in the eveningo and weekends

I'm really surprised there aren't more people posting, and I can't find any other threads for spring either! Usually there are quite a few people on here around application time.

I know.. Me too, I wish there were more people posting so we could have an idea where we stand
