Hi,

I'm starting this thread in hopes that other FSCJ Spring 2020 hopefuls will join in. Good luck to everyone applying come September.

That is correct. For when my cohort was going through acceptances, there were only 2 or 3 people that received an acceptance letter after being placed on the waiting list. The list is then cleared. Points are EVERYTHING to get into this program so if the next pool of applicants have a higher points cutoff, it's not good for those that were waitlisted before as they would then be ranked further down the list than on the previous list. I've seen the cutoff come in as low as the 120s in older semesters and as high as the 140s for others.

That kind of makes me nervous. Even though it’s more expensive, you wonder if it might just be easier to go to a school that has open admission. I’ve heard that as long as you pass the entrance exam you automatically get accepted into Fortis and Keiser.

I know people who have done that, but just make sure you pull up their accreditation status on the FL BON first. Make sure that they aren’t probationary and have full accreditation and then keep an eye on NCLEX passing rates. If all checks out, then the only difference at that point really comes down to cost.

Oh, I’ve already checked! The 2 I’m considering are both accredited.

Hi everyone! Currently studying for the HESI and then applying for the Spring 2020 cohort, but sending in the application without completing Microbiology and DEP2004. Anyone else in the same boat? Hoping for high scores on the HESI to suffice the 2 pre-reqs I'm taking this Fall.

I was told that you can’t apply without having all prerequisites done. I went in to talk to them and still need both A&P, and was told even though I could do one in Fall and the other in Spring I would have to apply for Fall 2020.

So this is something I can actual speak to from experience also. The application has the required prerequisites to be considered in bold (micro, AP 1 & 2, and chem). The other classes listed are not a requirement for acceptance but are additional points. In @Jess.W case, micro absolutely with no exceptions has to be done to be considered. DEP does not. For when I was accepted, I had all classes done except DEP, they tried to tell me they were throwing out my application. I told them that they need to pay attention to their own application and what it said. They apologized because they were wrong. I then went and did DEP online during term 3. Even with missing DEP, my HESI scores were high enough with additional quality points offered from high HESI scores. Hope that helps clarify!

Aw, that's a letdown. Was hoping to apply by the September deadline bc everything you've said is definitely not on the website or the ranking criteria. Heh, I've been wondering why those 4 classes are bold. I think I'll email the department for further clarification and have them update their info. Thank you both!

Update:

I emailed the nursing department and they were able to confirm that both A&P classes and college algebra are the only classes that must be complete prior to application. I guess I can still try to apply for the Spring cohort! Hopefully this helps for others who were unsure.

Thanks for that info. It helped confirm for me again. I had to check a while back on CHEM 1020 because I transferred where CHEM wasn't a pre-req. I have taken MCB already. I had to make sure I would be considered and received the same info about the required classes to apply. Hope we make it! Hesi on Friday and my app will be submitted. Best wishes all!

I have heard numerous people say the HESI Pocket Prep App is very helpful. There is a free version but the paid version is more helpful.
