FSCJ Nursing-Summer 2015

U.S.A. Florida

I haven't seen any thread for Summer 2015 Nursing Program for FSCJ, so I decided to create this one. There has been slight changes made to the program and to the prerequisite requirements.

Is anyone else planning to apply for the program? Any tips?

Words of encouragement?

Have you taken the HESI?

Is this your first time shooting to the program?

I'm so nervous for the HESI!!!

Me too!!! Just want to get it over with.

When is the earliest and latest we can submit our applications for the Summer 2015? I saw some different dates floating around.

Also, if you take the HESI twice, does the school just look at the attempts separately and take the best score overall? Or will they take the best section score from each attempt and combine?

Just a slight correction... applicants apply for the spring 2015 term CAN be enrolled in micro to apply but this is the last term they will allow this because the new packet goes into full effect January 2015.

I am new to this site and just started cruising around to be able to get some information. I am currently working on my prereqs and I have A&P1, CH1025C and DEP2004 this semester. Spring I will be finishing up with A&P2 and Micro. At what point do I need to take the HESI and what are my next steps? I am getting nowhere with the advisors. They always talk to me like I am stupid. I have had good grades this whole time (3.47 GPA) and things have been pretty smooth so I dont want to miss any deadlines of when I need to take the HESI or when to apply. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Shirley, I would get the newest application packet from north campus. That will have the most recent updated requirements and application dates for each term. The HESI you can take twice a year and no less than 90 days apart each time. There are study guides and assessment books you can get for practice but from other posts Anatomy and Biology sections are the toughest. So depending how familiar you are with those and gauging your desired application to the program would be your things to determine. Hope that helped.

That does help Kristin. Thank you. I certainly dont want to waste any time in getting the test done and applying when I can because I want to get in the program as soon as I can. I've just felt like after I enrolled and started on my prereqs at the beginning of this year they just set me free and I have had to figure out what I need to do next on my own. I do know that I can apply next semester while I take A&P2 and Micro but I did not have any information for the HESI. I will definitely stop by the north campus for the application packet.

I wonder if my 199.2 points will be good enough.

With that many points you will definitely get in. Pretty much anything over 190 is a guaranteed seat. The cutoff is usually some in the upper 170s/lower 180s.

Took the Hesi today and did ok but there's always room for improvement (especially my biology score). I studied the A&P and Biology sections from the Assessment admissions book the school recommends and was disappointed that it didn't cover nearly as much of the same information that was on the test. Will definitely be using a broader study scheme next go around. Does anyone know if you have to get a certain passing score on each section or just an average passing score?

Hello all!

I have a quick question I'm about to start taking my prerequisites for FSCJ and I'm also studying for the HESI my question is; Do you only take the sections required for the nursing program when you take the HESI or do you take the whole test and the school pulls scores from those sections?

Hi Kristin, I was just accepted into the program for the spring term. I will do my best to follow the threads and answer any questions you all may have. I found some really good study books online at amazon. I can post the name later once I get home. As for the HESI exam I think you at least have to get a 70%. They are really only looking at the points you receive based on the way you have to calculate the scores from the packet. All they care about is that you received passing grades and the points earned. Its all about the POINTS!! LOL. So the better you do the more points you will earn!

You will only take the sections required by the nursing program. Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Reading Comprehension and Basic math. You will actually be able to see what you scored after you complete each section, its displayed on the screen in the main menu. They will print your scores immediately and give them to you. I believe they are good for 2 years. You can take the exam twicw in one year but they have to be 90 days apart.
