Hello!
I haven't seen a thread for FSCJ Spring 2016, so I thought I'd start one. Who all is planning on applying for this term start? If anyone is in the program already, any advice??
Look forward to chatting with you all. :)
Did anyone apply without Microbiology and get accepted? For the fall term my microbiology class doesn't end until April 29th but the application deadline is Feb 1 - April 1 does Micro need to be complete first within that time or can you apply without it?
One guy said he got in without microbiology, but then he also said his points were around 180, which wasn't true bc the cutoff was 188.6. So I'm not really sure what you can believe from him or not. But it really just all depends on who you are applying against and what the scores are looking like for that semester.
caseynsoursLOL nursing assistant classes are ONLY 4 DAYS AT Acumen CNA training classes. Three weeks is a complete waste of time. Acumen CNA training center has a 97% pass rate on the state exam. The three week course is 800 dollars and Acumen is only $245. Get your fingerprints first then enroll in the class.

While this is true, you have to keep in mind that it's still very difficult to get a job as a CNA. A class that is 4 days means everything is crammed in. It's a LOT of information to take in. And facilities/hospitals look at what kind of training/class you had.
For those of you who have already applied/gotten into the program-
I'm currently taking my final preReq (Micro), which ends December 11th. I know that the deadline to apply for this summer term is December 1st; am I able to apply while I'm still in micro? Also, what is the best study material for the HESI? I've heard that there are usually about 3-4 topics that they choose, does anyone know what those are? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to get my ducks in a row!

I am in the exact same situation. My micro class ends Dec 11th as well. I emailed Ms. James for the answer to this question. Her response did not clarify it at all, if anything it just confused me more. After speaking with my friend who is currently in the program I am going to apply and see what happens. As far as the HESI goes I ordered a study guide offline and used it along with supplemental material to study. Their are four sections biology, a&p, math and reading comp. I studied for a month and then took the test. I got an 88 overall. If you find out an answer for sure regarding the micro class please let me know. Good luck with everything and we may be classmates come May 😊
For information, the Meridy's skills pack (SP139) is not available yet due to changes being requested by the college.
The Meridy's skill pack is now available. It ships directly to the school, so don't count on seeing what is in it till then. The cost is $75.

Hello Sarah,
You can still apply while you are taking Micro but the points will not count unless the class has finished and you are awarded a grade for the class. If you have high enough points through your prereqs and the HESI then you should be fine. As for the HESI, the topics that you will be tested on is Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Math, and Readng Comprenhension. There are a few different study guides out there. I believe mine was the Elsavier (not sure about the spelling). I thought it was very helpful.
I unfortunately was just shy of getting in by a few people so I will be studying up again and retaking the HESI at the end of November so that I can increase my points and hopefully get in this time.

I'm Brittany! I've been a SAHM mom for 5 yrs, my son started kindergarten in August so now it's time to finish my degree! I enjoy vacations with my family, going to church, weightlifting & being on the water!
I turned all of my stuff in and bought my polo, waiting a few more weeks to order my uniforms. I am looking forward to meeting everyone at Orientation & beginning our journey together!
I'm Carly. Been a SAHM for two years and I want to help provide for my family so it can get bigger:)! Did anyone receive the Student Handbook yet? Angie at the desk told me it was supposed to be emailed, but I have yet to receive it. All my other papers are complete. Looking forward to this journey!

No student handbook yet. I turned in all my paperwork except the sign off sheet, they said to hold on to that and turn in at orientation. We should receive student handbook by orientation, no definite date though.. It was in process of being revised.
