FSCJ Nursing - Spring 2016

Published

Hello!

I haven't seen a thread for FSCJ Spring 2016, so I thought I'd start one. Who all is planning on applying for this term start? If anyone is in the program already, any advice??

Look forward to chatting with you all. :)

I would think 4 or 5ish.

Thanks! You too Casey!! :-)

Goodluck POWife07!!!!!

Thank you! You too!

So now that my application is in I would think that the stressful time is over, but, knowing that it will be around 9 weeks until they send out the acceptance/denial letters is going to be just as stressful. If my points were a little more on the higher side I would feel more confident. Good luck to those that have already turned in their application as well as those that are doing the HESI and turning theirs in this week. I hope to see you all in the Sping.

Hello All!

I'm freaking out. I just took the HESI and got an 89.5%. That gives me 201 points with my GPA. The problem is it took FSCJ admissions office like two weeks to finally find my transcript I sent them. Now it still needs to be evaluated before I can actually send in my application and I've been on hold with admissions for over an hour . I would hate to have to wait to apply for the summer term for something that's out of my control. Anyone else having transcript problems?

How long ago did you send them in? They claim it takes two-three weeks for them to put them in the system, but it only took them a week and a half for mine. But I also went in and handed mine in so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it or not. But I also didn't need my transcripts for nursing since I had gotten my AA from FSCJ.

Yeah well I sent it late June but the college sent it to FSU by accident. So that cost a couple weeks. Then after they sent it electronically it took FSCJ two weeks to receive them after my countless calls. Now my life is put on hold for 4 more months. I'm gonna be 25 before I start the summer program and everyone else around me is buying new cars with their good careers. Here I am just trying to start school over and things out of my control are preventing me from doing so

I know how frustrating that can be, a girl I graduated high school with just graduated from a BSN program and already is a neonatal nurse. & here I am still trying to get it. But I just have to keep reminding myself that my time will come & yours will too! I hope that you don't let this discourage you and that you continue to push through. Everything happens for a reason😊 ( even though we may not like it ) haha

Thanks Jess, I won't let it discourage me from applying to get in. I know I have the points to have a really good chance. Now I have to find something to occupy my time until the summer because all of my pre-reqs are completed. I don't want to take a CNA course because I've heard being a CNA will burn you out before school.

I agree. I feel behind too!! Things happen for a reason and some things you don't have control over but sooner or later your time will come and you will look back and realize it wasn't worth worrying over!

I had my AP scores from high school sent in (took forever because the scores were archived) and when they finally received them, not only did they not correctly asses the scores (completely skipped over the English Lit & Comp, which is what's saving me from having to take ENC1101) my ENTIRE transcript, all grades and classes, from UNF just DISAPPEARED.

Imagine the freak out I had on Friday when I checked my records and NONE of my classes from UNF were showing up. (I have my associate's from there, that's a LOT of classes to be missing!!!) I spent about 4 hours at the South Campus advising office waiting to speak to someone and she promised me to get it fixed by today. Still haven't heard back and I'm getting nervous now.

Depends on where you work. I took the CNA course last November and started working in December at a nursing home. I learned two things very quickly. 1) I love helping other people have happy, comfortable lives. 2) I do not want to be a nurse at a nursing home.

All the nurses (RNs and LPNs) that work there highly recommend working as a CNA first. It not only helps you figure out if the environment is a place you want to be in for your career, but it also helps you figure out which field you may want to focus on. Also, I know several nurses and they all suggest working as a CNA at a hospital so once you graduate as an RN you have a way in work-wise. It's pretty difficult (and frustrating) trying to get a job immediately after graduating otherwise.

Also, 25 is still young! I'm 31 and wishing I had listened to my mom 10 years ago when she first suggested I become a nurse!!
