FSCJ Nursing - Spring 2016

Published

Hello!

I haven't seen a thread for FSCJ Spring 2016, so I thought I'd start one. Who all is planning on applying for this term start? If anyone is in the program already, any advice??

Look forward to chatting with you all. :)

It wasn't too bad, I would just say to know parts of the cell and about dna and deff know how to work with fractions/ratios!

Okay cool. I'm taking mine on Monday. Pretty nervous but I'm glad I keep hearing it's not too bad. What was your overall score if you don't mind me asking?

I thought I replied to this but the comment isn't showing up so not sure where it posted… lol I'm new to this. But I didn't do very well on the hesi, my overall score was an 80%, the biology and anatomy is what got me, but I did good in my prereqs so I have a pretty decent amount of points there. Hoping I get accepted but good luck on taking your HESI!

Do we need to bring in anything for the test other than our identification and confirmation of appointment? I don't want to bring my personal items and have them take it away from me.

Casey

There are 2 payments to make. 1 of them has to be paid with a card the other can be paid with cash, other than that you don't need anything but your ID like you said.

Hey Casey,

If you are taking the exam at North Campus they will give you a locker to put your things in. They made me put my ID, debit card, sunglasses and my car keys into one the other day when I took my test.

Specializes in OR.

It's the same at Kent Campus...they provide a locker for personal belongings.

I'm taking the HESI on Wednesday and am so nervous about it! Been cramming like crazy since my classes ended last week.

This could easily be a personal thing. I don't know what to do with my days off during this semester, I have no classes throughout all of Fall. Today is my first day of not having to study and I can't figure out what to do. I've cleaned the entire house, I've made dinner for the next week, etc. Does anybody have any suggestions of what to do or what I can study before nursing program starts?

I'm focusing on the HESI right now, but after that, I'm at a loss as well!

I heard they test you in dosage calculations so I guess just get really familiar with that. And read!

In my AP2 class we had a current nursing student come in to talk about the program and what advice she had for us future students. She really emphasized reviewing all your anatomy and physiology stuff. Her best tip on that was to just read through the AP book and make sure you're comfortable with all the material. Another bit of advice she gave was to start brushing up on pharmacology and the terms. She said the best way to know what to study was to go to quizlet.com and look up "FSCJ Pharm". Oh, and she said that they do a quiz on the very first day of the term, so be prepared. If I'm not mistaken, it covers conversions and dosages. I'll have to check my notes when I'm back home.

Good luck guys!! Is there a certain score you must receive on the hesi in order to apply to the program? Or is it just based on points??

It's just based on points from A & P, Biology, Math & Reading comp. but you don't have to get a certain score on any of them.

I unfortunately didn't do as well on the exam as I had hoped. So now my total points are pretty low. Wondering if I should still apply? I would have gotten higher points if I had gotten better grades in a few of my pre reqs. So I may be taking those again to get a higher score next time. Any advice anyone is willing to give to me? I know the cutoff will probably be around 180... I know it's different every semester.

Casey

Actually, I just thought of this but can I even re take any of the courses I got a C in? I think they'll only let you retake it if you failed.

Anyone know this for sure?
