FSCJ/FCCJ spring 2011 hopefuls

I scanned the threads and didn't see one for this class set up yet. I'm applying at the end of the semester. Anyone else?

No problem! Hopefully the rest of us will get theirs today. I am surprised I didn't get one yesterday because she only lives like 5 minutes from me....weird!

There have been a few people received letters..no acceptance letters though, just denial..someone said they haven't sent out acceptance letters yet, but not sure how they found that out or what is going on..careerstudent said it best..

"It would be pretty unprofessional of them to be late with anyone's letter considering the competitiveness of the program and how particular they are about the applicants. I'm sure no one was allowed to hand in an application late so it should work the other way around as well."

Honestly I try not to speculate based on someone else's posting. I mean in this entire thread I saw someone write that they were doing nights and weekends at The North Campus because they called someone and that's what they were told. I emailed ****** ***** directly and she said that was incorrect and that the N&W classes are at Deerwood. Then someone else posted something stating there wasn't going to be N&W classes for Spring 2011 just daytime classes. Once again I emailed ****** ***** and she said that was incorrect also. You really have to trust the sources you are getting your information from. And honestly I think people post stuff incorrectly on here sometimes to throw people off from applying. I mean it is comptetive right? But still if you have to do that in the hopes of you getting in then your morals are Fd up! lol...anyways good luck to everyone and please post when you get yur acceptance letter.

I called the nursing department this morning and was told that the acceptance letters have not been mailed yet. A classmate that attended meeting last night said they were told that the letters will not be sent until after the holiday-they wanted to get the denials done first.

Specializes in none.

Did you seriously just say that? I know that I said that there were no nights and weekends in the spring but I was passing along info that I had read in previous threads or told by advisors in the past. And maybe you weren't attacking me personally, but that reads like a poorly veiled insult to a lot of the posters here. Who will probably be your classmates in a couple of months.

I emailed ****** ***** just now asking what was going on...I hope she gets back to me soon..i'll post when I hear something!

If you don't trust the people in the forum then why read it, and why participate? And why ask the rest of us to share our acceptance letters if according to you it's probably a lie to throw you off? If you ever received incorrect information from this forum or any other one on this website I am sure that it wasn't purposely meant to sabotage you or any other applicants. Competitiveness and lack of integrity don't necessarily have to go hand in hand as you're suggesting.

n.o.m.a.i.l. again. :\

To clear up a few of my threads.....

A friend of mine (who is a member of this thread) recieved a rejection letter last week. That letter stated that her points were not enough and that there was meeting scheduled for last night (Monday evening). She called me over the weekend in panic mode because the points the nursing dept had listed on her rejection letter was not the same as her figures. She went to the nursing dept first thing yesterday morning to find out what was "up" with the scores. They had missed one of her classes...which was a change in her total by 12 points. With that being said, the addition of the 12 points put her above the 194.72 cut-off. They corrected it in the system. She was then told that the acceptance letters had not been mailed and they could not tell her that she was "in", she would in turn have to wait to receive her letter. People make mistakes...and I'm sure the nursing dept has dealt with their system long enough to allow themselves some lee-way for that.

Rejection letters are sent to those who "without a doubt" didn't get in for this particular term. Those who are on the "border" may or may not get a rejection. They only accept 144 students for Spring and the acceptance letters that will be mailed out sometime next week will not be for all of the 144 students. The nursing dept HAS to leave themselves a few slots for any miscalculations on the point system. Last night's meeting should have given them the opportunity to clear up any issues or discrepancies that a student may have found. I'm sure once the "for sure" slots are filled they will open up the last of those slots for those who are on the borderline (but I don't know that for sure, I'm speculating.)

As for the comments on the nights and weekends, I did place a post confirming that there IS a N/W program for Spring 2011...but by mistake I also stated that it is North Campus which is incorrect. My mistake and I apologize for that. I would not want anyone to think that I was trying to mislead. It was an honest mistake.

The waiting is definitely making everyone a little crazy! :) I have not received anything, my points are 215.32(Nassau Co.) so I have no doubt that I will get accepted but I know that I (like many of you) would feel better having that acceptance letter and/or packett in my hands! :) My only WISH is that my points are high enough to be selected in the N/W section.

Which opens up another door for the nursing dept. There are those students out there who cannot attend daytime classes and if not offered a N/W slot, will have to give up their seat...I've read here in a thread that one student has turned down her seat 3 or 4 times in order to get into the N/W at her chosen campus. I've also read in threads where students have been accepted right up til a week before classes start. So everyone, as nerve racking as this process is, we all must patient.

Good luck to everyone! I wish each of you the very very best!!

I hope that you guys have a great Thanksgiving. I received my denial letter this last Saturday. There are 478 applicants and only 144 got in. The lowest was 194.72. I hope that this helps some of you that are still waiting.

Whaley,

Thanks for taking the time to post all that information, to me without a doubt your explanations make the most pratical sense logistically and pretty much what I have been surmising here on my own.

Now the rest of you "ladies" if you cant play pretty , we are going to stand you all in a corner with your noses stuck to wall. In the meantime eveyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy it with your family and friends...

Career...I never said I don't trust EVERYONE, I merely stated that SOME the things that were posted, whether intentional or not I have confirmed were untrue. By me stating the obvious on here is actually something I an admire in myself because I know I was helping to clear up the misconfusion. If I only found a few posts that were incorrect, then it isn't enough for me to not participate in this forum. I like to hear what people have to say, because I know if I heard different from the program director then I can post the truth and help many applicants. As far as the acceptance letters go, I am asking because I think it is great to hear if someone got in. You actual personal attack on me is rather immature to say the least. And honestly I never implied that anyone was purposely posting false information, I simply stated my opinion. Whether or not it is a fact remains a mystery. Sorry if you got so offended at my posting, but it is what it is. And goodluck to you!
