FSCJ/FCCJ spring 2011 hopefuls
Does anyone know if there is a gym at the North Campus? I didn't think so considering I don't see one on any of the maps, but all the other campuses do so I don't see why the North Campus would be any different. If anything, they should especially have a fitness center at that campus considering that that's where the nursing program is.

FSCJ Spring 2011 Accepted ( HOORAY!!)
So what are you guys doing about work? Is anyone on day shift attempting to work full time during term 1. I recently acquired my CNA license but am having some trouble finding employment. Most places will hire a student who has completed the first semester of nursing school for a nurse's assistant position.... so if I don't find a job before then I will have spent all that time and money getting my license in vain:crying2: Anyone in the same boat??? Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday:yeah:

FSCJ Spring 2011 Accepted ( HOORAY!!)
I'm definitely going for the hardcover books. I don't like the "uncertainty" of the ebooks. I rather lug around my books for four semesters and not have to worry about my computer crashing on the day before a big test or something like that. Staring at the computer screen for hours a day gives me a headache anyway. Does anyone know what room number to go to at the north campus to get an essential card? No one picks up the phones at the number they have listed.

Just to clarify... nothing is actually due on the 3rd right? We have until the 10th to hand in everything in at once right? I was confusing myself with the flu shot thinking that we had to hand in the receipt on the third, but I think it just means that the receipt has to state we got the flu shot on or before December 3rd:confused: So many things to do, so little time!!!

Squirmy, where did you go for your CPR card if you don't mind me asking?

Wooohoooo:yeah: See you guys at orientation!!! And by the way... the CPR lady you guys were talking about... S.S. (don't want to post full name) totally stood me up today. I think she forgot I was coming because she cancelled her Tuesday class this week because she said she had a meeting so she told me to come Wednesday instead. I wouldn't have minded if she would have called me and cancelled even last minute. But she just didn't open the door ,and I'm pretty sure she was home because the car was in the driveway and there were lights on in the house:rolleyes: Oh well. I'll probably call and reschedule anyway, I like the idea of having a small class in someone's house, seems so much more personal and informal, I learn better that way. Maybe I'll see you guys there... going to try scheduling again for this Tuesday.

melissalarey: it was not a personal "attack". Yes my comment was directed to you, but I simply asked you why you were participating if you felt you weren't benefiting from the post. This is obviously more of a conversational thing than a factual thing if you haven't noticed. Just as you stated you weren't attacking squirmy when you posted your blog, I wasn't attacking you either. Now stating that I'm immature is clearly a personal attack. If anyone is immature it is you for suggesting that people on this blog were purposely posting misguided information to secure their spot in the program. Negativity is just not appreciated at such a nerve wrecking time. And that is all I will say on the subject. I am not one for grudges. (Good thing this blog is anonymous, maybe we'll end up being the best of friends and not even know it:D)

If you don't trust the people in the forum then why read it, and why participate? And why ask the rest of us to share our acceptance letters if according to you it's probably a lie to throw you off? If you ever received incorrect information from this forum or any other one on this website I am sure that it wasn't purposely meant to sabotage you or any other applicants. Competitiveness and lack of integrity don't necessarily have to go hand in hand as you're suggesting.

And if the information posted previously is correct and as of last night the acceptance letters still hadn't been mailed, that means that no one is getting a letter today either:rolleyes: They're really cutting it close, this Friday makes 8 weeks if I'm not mistaken. It would be pretty unprofessional of them to be late with anyone's letter considering the competitiveness of the program and how particular they are about the applicants. I'm sure no one was allowed to hand in an application late so it should work the other way around as well:mad: Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving everyone.... it can't be much longer.

Aaahhhh. That makes a lot of sense actually. I guess I was being cynical:o

And to think I was praying so hard to get a letter today... be careful what you wish for! Never felt more relieved to see an empty mailbox than I did today after reading Whaley's post. I wonder why those who shared their rejection letter with us never mentioned this meeting. And yes... the nursing staff does deserve a Kudos for setting a meeting for those who were turned down this semester (I believe this is a first from what I know of) , but make no mistake, their motives surely weren't completely selfless. I'm sure this is going to cut down immensely on the floods of angry phone calls from those who want to make sure their rejection wasn't in error or who want to know what they can do next time around. The fact that they are holding on to the acceptance letters until after this meeting makes me very uneasy. Does this mean that if someone can make a good enough point of why they should have been accepted (for instance some out of county person with almost maxed out points) or if someone's points were miscalculated and they really should have been accepted that they're are going to dip into that pile of acceptance letters and tear some up from those who landed at the bottom of the totem pole. There is a set amount of people accepted for each semester (144 for this spring if I'm not mistaken?), so if they already have 144 acceptance letters sitting in a pile at the office, why wait until after the meeting to send them? It leads me to believe that it is possible that someone who is ranking 144th right now and have an acceptance letter sitting at the North Campus right now, and not even know it, may have a more unfortunate fate come tonight, along with a few other students who are sitting at the bottom end of the pool. Maybe I'm just being cynical... but why else would they hold on to the letters?

Yes, it was my first time taking the NAT. I did horrible on the arithmetic portion, but fortunately for me, I realized it doesn't count when calculating your points, though I'm sure it is probably calculated into academic aptitude. I found the first section was easy, except for the time constraints. 90 questions in 30 minutes is a little ridiculous, so I skipped all the arithmetic questions for which I had to do any long calculations, and then I didn't have time to go back at the end to complete them as originally intended. I have 99 points from the NAT and I don't feel like I can improve my scores. Hopefully my 201 points will be enough to get me through. Thanks for the encouragement! And that part about more people applying for the fall semester does make a lot of sense as to why the cut off was so high, I didn't think of that...

Hello Everyone... Just took the NAT today. After calculating my points I was ecstatic about my 201.2 points. Now I'm not feeling too great after reading these posts. I can't believe the cut off last semester was 201.24! My mother in law got into the program 5 years ago with just a 183... I've never heard of the cut off being in the 200's before

RN-BSN Bridge Classes?/ Taking a Semester Off?
This semester I will be finishing all the classes that I will need to graduate from the FSCJ nursing program: the prereqs as well as the other classes that you don't need to apply like English and Sociology and a few other ones. I'm sure most people who apply have taken all their classes as well because it would be nearly impossible to have enough points without having taken most of them. So the application is due in October to start in the Spring.... so I am left wondering what classes to take for the Fall semester. I thought that maybe I could start taking my classes for my BA if I decide to get one in the future, so I looked up the RN-BSN bridge program at UNF and it seems the only classes you need for that are the same prereqs for the RN nursing program at FSCJ. I thought for your BSN you had to take a languange, and statistics and a few other ones; that way I can take them now since I am unemployed and have the financial aid. Can someone please clarify this for me? Anyone know of any other accredited RN-BSN bridge programs in Jax besides UNF? (I heard FSCJ lost their accreditation.) How would it affect my financial aid grants if I just took the semester off?

FSCJ/FCCJ point system/withdrawing
I'm also taking Micro and Algebra! I'm doing fine in Algebra and Micro... whooping my a$$ as you put it as well, lol! Nice to see I'm not the only one. I'm also taking Human Growth and Development and A&P II online... and I just signed up yesterday to start Humanities next month for an 8 week session. I finally figured out how to calculate the points and I started freaking out, one class can make all the difference. Did you take the NAT yet?
