FSCJ/FCCJ point system/withdrawing

U.S.A. Florida

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to find someone who has information on the FSCJ ( formerly FCCJ) point system for the RN program. It's almost as if the formula is top secret. I will be applying for the Spring 2011 semester, I'll be done with my prereqs this summer. I also wanted to ask if anyone has withdrawn from a class? Does it look bad when applying? I'm considering withdrawing from Micro and just taking it in the fall since you only have to be enrolled in it to apply. It's the reason why I'm concerned with the point system at this moment, I'd like to calculate my points to see where I stand.

Any other FSCJ/FCCJ Spring 2011 hopefuls out there???:)

Pick up the application packet from the school, and it will explain everything. Basically you figure points for your grades for your pre-req classes - # of credit hours x grade (A=4, B=3, etc.). Then you take the NAT and your points are multiplied by a percent. Add the NAT with your grades and those are your application points. Withdrawing doesn't matter when applying to this program, they only look at the pre-req classes you have passed.

Thanks! Are you in the program already?

Hi there! You'll probaly find what you are looking for in the Florida tabs. Here are the links. As far as withdrawing is concerned, I've been told once before that if you withdraw and pick it up the next semester (AND) complete it successfully, they chalk that up as not big of an issue. I did that with AP1 and hoping my second attempt the next semester will not be an issue for me since I got an excellent grade in the course. Have you picked up a packet from FSCJ? Have you taken your NAT?

Anyway, here you go! There is plenty of information here that might be helpful to you. There isn't a blog for Spring 2011 but I'm sure there will be one soon.

Spring 2011 hopeful right here!!! Ive been waiting for someone to start a forum for us! Im in Micro and college algebra right now, both of which are whooping my behind. Especially Micro. So assuming I have enough points, I'll be applying in August for spring.

I'm also taking Micro and Algebra! I'm doing fine in Algebra and Micro... whooping my a$$ as you put it as well, lol! Nice to see I'm not the only one. I'm also taking Human Growth and Development and A&P II online... and I just signed up yesterday to start Humanities next month for an 8 week session. I finally figured out how to calculate the points and I started freaking out, one class can make all the difference. Did you take the NAT yet?

Yes one class definitely can. I already took the NAT in March and only got 95 points so Im definitely retaking it. I took it without Micro and only half way through AP2 so I for sure wasn't ready to take it. Everyone said it would be easy but I thought it was pretty hard. Its just basic stuff that you learn in your pre-req's but the problem is, as soon as I get done with a class, everything just floods out of my mind. I don't retain any of it. I don't really know what to study for it either. I got a study book but it didn't help. Praying I do better the 2nd time around! I'm really getting nervous and excited. Aug 1st I can apply!!

I'm so happy that you started this forum! I will also be applying in August for Spring 2011 start. I'm hoping to squeeze in because I will be taking Micro in the fall, so I don't have the points for it yet. I'm taking the NAT next week for the first time. Hopefully, I do well enough to get in for January start. If not, I will start in May. I have 104 points for my grades (without Micro), so it seems like I need at least 95 points from the NAT to have a good chance at a spring start. If you have any suggestions on the NAT, I'd love to hear them!

Hey! I am also applying for the ADN program for the Spring of 2011. I live in South Carolina and moving to Florida in October so I am not very familiar with the nursing schools in Florida. However, so far this is my top pick. I am kind of concerned about the minimum points accepted though. I e-mailed one of the nursing advisors and was told that you have to have 120 points to be considered. I have almost 90 points from my pre reqs. I have not taken the test yet and I am scheduled to take it next week. From the previous posts I am very nervous now! Haha. You mentioned that you already had 104 points and that you feel that you have to make a 95 out of 120 on the NAT tests to even have a chance! Does anyone else have any idea what the previous minimum accepted points have been in recent application periods?? I hope I am not wasting my time. I am driving 7 hours to come take this test! haha.

The cutoff for summer was around 197. If you don't have close to 200, you might want to retake some pre-reqs to up your score. But its very possible to do well on the NAT and end up with 200 points! :)

Yea. It is just frustrating because I already graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor in Psychology and I have made As and Bs in all my classes except for my A&P classes, which I made a C in. I feel like I am constantly running in circles, but I am hoping to do really well on the NAT. Have you taken it yet and if so how difficult would you say that it was? Thanks for your response! :)
