FSCJ Fall 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.

I haven't received one yet and I can't imagine they would since it has only been two weeks since the deadline. But, if they are already sending out letters, I won't be complaining.

There's a lot more on the HESI as opposed to the NAT. My only guess is that's why FSCJ is changing it, the decision might be for the better because it tests a broader range of the subject. I did much better on the NAT than the HESI in the science section and the HESI also has it's own separate math section which I didn't do too great on. I also thought the NAT was easier in the questions asked even though the time crunch was nerve wrecking.

Do anyone know if they started sending out letters yet?

They said 8 weeks when I turned in my application. the application said 6 to 8 weeks. From previous discussion boards it looks like the summer applicants got their letters in 5 weeks and the spring started getting their in just 2 1/2 weeks. So hopefully soon

do you have to take the hesi if you apply for spring term even if you already have a score on the nat?

I missed the deadline due to some events but I am planning on applying for spring term in August with 193 points! Could you all please give me your advice on if you think I'll get in or not?

Your score will change because you have to take the HESI and they won't let you use the NAT scores since the whole program to get in is changing....I called and asked, just incase I had to reapply since my score wasn't as high as I hoped ....for this semester .....

are the pre req classes still the same? i applied this semester with a 196. I am retaking general psychology (since my ap psych from high school only counts as a C) to improve my points so I can reapply for spring if i dont get in by fall.

To the person who asked what the Days schedule looks like, it will vary from section to section. You will be split up into sections, and each one chooses from a list of schedules and clinical sites. Test days are always Mondays from 9:30 - 11:45. You could have a schedule with one class a day for Tuesday through Friday or you could have a schedule with two classes on one of those days and one class the other two.

For example, my schedule is Monday: Test Day. Tuesday: one class from 8 - 1:30. Wednesday: Two classes but each is hybrid so they rotate. One is 9-12 and the other is 2-5, but I'm only in one of them a week. And Thursdays is one class from 9-12. I chose that schedule to be mostly consistent with class times, but the schedules will vary somewhat.

Yes that is the number I called,,I just happen to get her on the phone so I had a list a questions 1. Could I use my NAT scores to try again next semester ...a see no because everything is changing 2. Was the number of applicants greater this year because of all the changes ? It was about the same as previous semesters? She also stated that bookstores have the HESI book available for purchase if interested . Other than that she didn't know the cut off yet , and letters probably would not be going out early because of all the up coming changes that the program is under going ......The point system is also going to change as well but she couldn't go into details....so I am either going to get my acceptance letter or get the changes for the next semester to try again .....

thank you so much I'm just trying to get an idea

Did you find anything out about how the point system is going to change? Are we going to have to be more competitive or will it stay the same? What else is going to change in the program and will it effect those starting in Fall 2014 or will the changes start for Spring 2015 term? I don't see why program changes for Spring term would affect those starting in the Fall. I just want my letter ;(
