Hello everyone, I did not see a post for the fall 2014 semester, so I wanted to get it started. I applied to the 2014 summer semester and now I am waiting on my acceptance or denial letter. I am starting this forum just in case i do not get in for the summer. My total score right now is 169.96. I have 97 points for my classes and 72.96 points from the NAT. I am currently taking statistics and humanities, in hope of getting an A in both of them to boost my score up to 178.96. I made a C in A&P 1, my first humanities class and PSY1012. I also made a B in college algebra and that is what got my score down so low. I hope that the low cut off score trend continues to give me a good chance of getting in. The last 3 semesters were 175.96, 187 and 187. I am preparing to retake the NAT in late May to be in time for the June 1st deadline with plenty of time to study for the NAT. I look forward to meeting you all, and hear how things are going for you, so we can encourage and support one another.
The NAT will NOT be offered after this semester, I took it today, and although I didn't get as high as some of the other hopefuls, I am just upset that if I don't get in this semester I have to prepare to take the HESI exam to get into the nursing program..The price of the test will be going up to 95.00 so no its not a scam......Im proud of all the high scores that everyone has achieved and I wish everyone luck, let the waiting begin .......
Don't stress too much about the hesi I just took it and literately spent 2 hours reviewing some A&P then took the test. . Averaged score of 84 . . . Could be higher but for two hours of studying I will take that score. It's very straight forward, and to the point. I also took the Kaplan and TEAS and honestly in my opinion they all cover the same topic although of the three test the Hesi was BY FAR the easiest in terms of questions not being as in depth and the reading passages not being as long and boring as the other tests I took. The vocabulary was by far the tougher section for me. . So go over that and use quizlet to help you study for the hesi sections if you end up needing to take the Hesi. Good luck to you!
HESI exams are incorporated into the curriculum (many classes have a HESI exam as the final) so it's great that you are being exposed to that prior to entering!! A positive change, for sure! I'm currently in the last semester of the program and can honestly say that doing well on the HESI exams are a definite key to success in the program overall. Best of luck to everyone!
Just curious, but what is everyone applying with? I'm applying with a 191.5 and I thought that was good until I started reading that some people are applying with 220's and above.
I was very comfortable applying with a 192 which was my score prior to retaking the NAT. Looking back at the last 5 terms, the highest cut off was 187.2 which was Fall 2013. The average score is 183.73. Of course it is all going to depend on the number of applicants and their scores, but I was confident going in with a 192. I just retook the NAT because I could, and I had nothing to lose. Most applicants going into nights and weekends need the higher scores because there are very limited spaces for that program.
I am applying with a 178.96. I was going to retake the NAT on May 29th but I changed my mind at that last minute because I did not feel that I had studied enough for it to do as good as I want to on it. Now I a m reading on here that they are o longer accepting the NAt after this application period. I wish I had of known that ahead of time, because I would have went ahead and took it for t he last time to see how I would do anyways. Now it is too late for me too take it again. I hate the fact that the Hesi is $95 versus the NAT being only $45 but I have been going all out studying for the NAT and I will continue to do so for the Hesi so I will only have to take it one time.
So I'm overnighting my packet today with 190.84 points, not sure if that will be good enough though
I think that is a great score! :) Are you trying to get into nights and weekends? If you are, I still think that is pretty good. If you only want days, you have no worries, you are pretty much secured in getting in.
Wow! A lot of people have really good scores! I retook my NAT today and scored a 100 on it, so I will be applying with 220. Fingers crossed!! Good luck to everyone!
Congrats! That is WONDERFUL! You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Do not stress yourself out or anything. Just relax and enjoy your free time. :)
That is a great score! I was glad that I took the Nat over 3 months ago because I was able to retake it and improve my score as well. I had an initial score of 192.34 and increased it to 223.68 after retaking the NAT. Unfortunately, I do not have any work experience:bluecry1:. I think the initial time I was nervous and unsure of the test, so I didn't do as well. But, I am very thankful that I thought ahead to take it in January to see where I stood! Did you take Micro with Prof. Lorincz?
That is awesome! Congrats! Do not worry about not having work experience. You will definitely get in with that score for sure :)
I applied for days as my first choice. I'm just worried about my puny 190.84 against all these awesome scored over 200....this thread helped me a lot with the NAT that I took today. 99.84 first try, with the exception of Micro I took in the fall I hadn't taken a math or science for a good 10 years. With all the great time management tips from you ladies I don't think I would have done so well. I also had some really good study guides :)

Don't, you got this! If is very rare that the cut off score will be higher than your score. Ms James said that one semester awhile back the cut off was in the 200's but that was a lonng time ago. if anything, I am the one that is in the wait and see situation, because I only have 178.96. I really think you have absolutely nothing to worry about so relax and enjoy your free time :) I am glad that you were able to do a great job on the NAT and the tips helped you
So, I'm a little nervous and wondering if anyone can offer information regarding residency and readmission. I turned in my nursing application after retaking the NAT with Candace's study guide. I applied with 215.56 points. However, for Spring 2014 I attended St. John's River State College and I'm not taking classes for Summer. The last class I took at FSCJ was during Fall 2013 August-November. I know readmission and residency forms need to be turned in when more than 12 consecutive months have passed since you've attended the school. Which would be August (Fall 2014) that I applied for. I faxed them my residency forms and readmission application today May 30 before the deadline. Will this be okay? Or will they count it against me? I'm still currently a student there. 12 months will be August and I've already resubmitted my forms via fax before the deadline date.
