Frustration

So, Im in my second term of LPN school and I have just about had it! My school is so disorganized and my clinical setting is worse! But my main consern is the course content. I haven't paid much attention this term (bad I know) but I'm still passing with flying colors. It seems to me that all the tests are common sense, and that were aren't really learning anything that is real vital. Please tell me it just the term and that things will pick up soon. I'm not saying its easy becouse the cousre texts contain some real complicated stuff but we aren't getting tested on those things. Should I consider switching schools? :banghead:

I don't know that I'd quit because I felt the tests were too easy. You can learn the information presented and retain it, even if they don't test you on the complicated stuff. There's nothing really preventing you from taking your learning further than what they expect you to know to pass their tests. Disorganization of school and clinical would probably need more explanation.

It's likely that you have a wide variety of people with different learning styles, and what you may find easy, perhaps many of them find difficult. It doesn't mean that the school stinks, it may just be that you have a better grasp of the basics and so you're not finding yourself as challenged as you expected to be. Maybe?

When you enter the real world of nursing, healthcare facilities will be so disorganized and your coworkers might be worse. There will be situations at work that might be easy and present absolutely no challenges. These are not immediate, pressing reasons to switch jobs.

A poorly-run school, disorganized clinical rotations, and seemingly easy tests are not good enough reasons to switch schools IMO. I would simply stick with the program. Good luck to you.

What makes you feel the school is unorganized? What classes are you taking this semester? This info would be more helpful for me to answer your questions. Dont quit or give up. Maybe your classes are basic fundamental issues right now, most of that is common sense. I wish you the best.

This is a prelude to the nursing profession. My school was also extremely disorganized and to be honest, I don't think that transferring schools (especially if you are already passing with flying colors) is the road to consider, because it may actually be worse.

Believe me, when you actually start working, you'll see that the confusion and chaos does not improve. While I hated school immensely, I can say (unfortunately), that they did prepare me of the insanity to come. There are so many changes, alterations in policy and procedures, rules, etc...that even being totally attentive will be overlooked at times. Stay and finish.
