  1. student loans my help with the financial end of things, just don't forget you gotta pay them back, with interest. a couple of people in my class applied for extra money in the loan for living expenses. good luck to you.
  2. first I would like to say I certainly hope you are feeling better. Second, know when to cut your losses and move on. I have been in a he said she said situation during my clinical rotation no less, and it totally stinks! Im not a nurse yet... my board exam is in (gulp) 4 days. I feel the best course of action is to turn in your resignation it will work much better for you in the long run. Best of luck.
  3. most of this dissatisfaction within this thread seems to be about the money, not the satisfaction of just being a nurse. I make due on the LPN salary soley for the reason thats it about the patients and not the money. I am not out to be friends or enemies with my co-workers, I am there for the patient and what I can do for them to make their stay a little less stressful and more comfortable. I am all for giving to others, I don't need that flat panel tv, or a new hi-tech cell phone, I just need the smile from the patient.
  4. still in school but can answer the questions if you still would like me too
  5. I couldn't use the dosage on hand formula, for whatever reason it confused me. And to watch someone use it, it looks so simple. I end up using stoiciometry, fancy word for algebra. I ended up with a tutor who already was a math wiz in our class. I wish you the best, but try www.dosagehelp.com, i use my math formulas to solve their problems, check it out
  6. my days are m-f from 1:30 pm-9:00 or 10:00 pm. Im in med surg II. we have a pre conference and post conference and we have a working supper, thats when we try to get all our paperwork done. we do rotations thru ER and ICU. its a killer.
  7. i love www.dosagehelp.com it has helped me out alot, and i still use it to brush up on math! it has questions and how to sovle them all explained in detail for you.
  8. for me alot is common sense, but I have to agree with the others about using an nclex review book. I have saunders, mosby's and davis (the last 2 are my favorite, but I found mosby's the hardest. best of luck, and try not to worry too much, you'll make it!
  9. You've got to be kidding me, its housekeepings job? Ha, I would have had a field day with that instuctor. I have just worked my way up from housekeeping to nurse, and if there is water around the sink it can drip on the floor and if it gets on the floor from using the sink it is everyones responsibility to clean it up, this can cause slips and falls, and no hospital wants that!
  10. delayed cap refill is suggestive of poor periphiral blood circulation
  11. I am on my last rotation for clinicals for LPN, Got through all the hard acedemics and tests and such. I was assigned to the ER for 2 weeks, we have a quick care area for the PA to handle if the situation is not a true emergency, (headaches, stitches, flu, etc..). I happened to make the comment to my instuctor that I enjoyed the quick care (we were extrordinarly busy that day) and she said thats because its so benign, I was so insulted and furious. She wants all of us to enjoy her specialty (heart) and I am planning on LTC and Rehab work, I am lucky enough to have found my niche already. All I wanted to do was tell her to go poop in her hat (but I didn't), because if it we not for nurses like me, then noone would be there for her when she breaks her hip and has to stay in a rehab facility. How do I get her to see nursing has many avenues and not all are for heart patients?
  12. What makes you feel the school is unorganized? What classes are you taking this semester? This info would be more helpful for me to answer your questions. Dont quit or give up. Maybe your classes are basic fundamental issues right now, most of that is common sense. I wish you the best.
  13. I am in Tampa and can relate. Try Rasmussen in Ocala, Im not sure how far that is for you but they have a nursing program
  14. Is this right for me to know most of this info? Im still a pn student and this sounds more like rn info. correct me if i am wrong please.
  15. I honestly cannot believe all of you whining people. You are all there for one specific purpose, to become a nurse. There are many idiosyncrasies you people have too (none of us are perfect), and just because one person has the enthusiasum and drive to ask questions and write down descriptions of her teachers is no reason to rag on her. Cut the girl a break, all she wants to do is succeed. If your gonna cut her down for her drive to be a nurse how are you with your patients who complain about everything? Think about it.
