It won't help you any but yes, many many people are having the same problem. It is an employers market right now. You did not state how long it has been since you actually worked in Women's Health or in acute care at all. I am not sure what kind of marketing you did (was it in the healthcare field or something else? Did it have anything to do with acute care or something else?), how long you worked in women's health or how long you worked in home health nor how long you have gone without working. You also do not state under what circumstances you left each of those jobs nor what you have been doing since. Just with the limited information you provided it adds up to "no recent experience" . Most of the job openings I am seeing up here in DFW require one to two years of recent experience in the specialty.

A lot can change in 10 years time. You may have to take a job not in your specialty of choice to get your foot in the door. You may have to take a refresher course if you have been out of acute care for more than five years (ie: doing marketing, home health, unemployed etc). You may need to look in other areas and you may need to consider moving. If you left your past positions in a bad way, you may need to examine what you can do to negate that. The market is rough. I hope you find something soon.

The nursing shortage is a myth. Just keep sending out applications. If you have inside connections anywhere this is the time to contact them. Best of luck!
