frustrated and disappointed

Hello, I need some advice- I starting school in fall of 2002, didn't know what I wanted to do at first but for the past 2 years have been trying to fullfill local schools requirements to get accepted into either a ADN program or a BSN program. One school informed me that there is a "waiting list" and its about 2 1/2- 3 years long. The other school said I have a good chance getting a spot in the fall of 2007, the other school goes simply by GPA and hasn't accepted anyone under a 3.98 in 2 years, and the last school with the BSN program requires 2 chemistry classes, which puts me behind anyways. AHHHHH, what do I do? I just want to scream! However, I am currently enrolled in a CNA class in hopes it will get me some experience until I can get in a program and save some money while doing so. Just in case you all have any advice for me, the school I am currently attending is Mott Community College, the college that informed me of spots open for fall of 07 is Oakland Community College. Anyone out there have any advice, or similar experiences?

Not sure if you are still looking but I think in O.C.C there is a lot of misinformation. If you have your prereqs done you can apply. There is no "waiting list" per se but their selection criteria is as follows:

1) When were prereqs finished. So those who finished in Winter 05 will be selected over Winter 06 if they have reapplied.

2) Amount of prereqs taken at OCC. Obviously if 2 students have finished in Winter 05 but one has all schooling from OCC and the other has it from another school they will choose the OCC student first.

3) Prereq G.P.A. All things being equal it falls to grades.

Basically my understanding is that the waiting list is done. The selection critieria still gives those who have been done longer a leg up but you must reapply every year and will not just be put on a waiting list and called. I haven't looked at any other schools which may be wishful thinking on my part but oh well. I am crossing my fingers that I get in this fall.

Do you have all your prereqs done? Have you been to your advisor to find out what the waiting list entails? I know that I was told a 2 year wait years ago when I was enrolled at Mott, but I had no problems getting into the program when I was finished with my prereqs.

I would suggest this as a first step.

What about U of M? They are a bachelors program but...

How about St. Clair Community College?

Does Davenport have a program now?

Good luck!!! Talk to your advisor. Dont' let all teh "talk" from other students scare you off. Mott has a GREAT program and definitely prepared me for my first job!!!!!

Any questions please PM me. Although.... it's been awhile since I graduated. :uhoh21:

I grew very tired of waiting lists around here. I decided to go an alternate route. I currently attend Deaconess College of Nursing. They offer theroy online and clinicals are conducted at a local healthcare facility. My nursing classes have a mandatory weekly online discussions. At the end of each semester I have to travel to St. Louis for the weekend for practical exams in order to progress. The college is NLN accrediated and approved by the MO BON and the Michigan board of nursing approves of the program as well. Also, if you may have any prereqs left you can take them while you are in the program. I also have the option to sit for nclex-pn boards next year and still continue with the program to complete for RN. check out their website http://www.deaconess.edu

you are not an rn now? i checked out the website but not understanding how the school works. you take all of your classes online, and have your clinicals at a facility near where you live here in mich.? at the end of every semester you travel to st. louis to take your exams? do i have this correct? how are you liking it? are you getting the clinical experience you need? did you start right away? clear these things up when you get a chance, i have never heard of this. thank you ashley
