From nclex rn to pn. Anyone?

Published

I'm a BSN graduate in the PH last year. I applied for NCLEX RN but got denied to due to my clinicals and theory are not done concurrently. so I was advised by my former professor to take the LVN exam.

Anyone who has the same experience?

Is there a chance I will be denied to take LVN?

There are dozens of posts in the Nurse Registration forum of other graduates from the Philippines that were also denied because of a lack of concurrency in the Filipino curriculum. You don't apply for the NCLEX. You apply for a nursing license by examination. In this case you are applying for a nursing license by examination by challenging the educational requirements via method 3. The details are on the BVNPT website. In addition, there is a back up of the assessments of a few months. Your license, assuming you meet the requirements and pass the NCLEX-PN will be valid only in the state of CA and not endorsable to any other US state. No other state permits challenging the LPN exam by equivalent education or experience. All other states require LPN candidates to be a graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing program.

Thank you for the response and the helpful links (will check right now :)

I actually called the BVNPT boards yesterday and the (very rude) agent told me I'm on method 2!

Ill call again tomorrow to verify hoping a nicer agent will give me better service.

Just read the application on the BVNPT website it's very clear as to which method needs to be used. Method 2 is for those who graduated from a PN program from another US State. Method 3 is equivalent education or experience.
