I'm sitting here under the lovely trees of the campground: cedar, spruce, Douglas fir, alder, draped with moss. I walked down to the nearby Clark River this morning, about a mile. The campground, called Paradise Point, is quite close to the interstate, so its a bit noisy to sit outside, but dh has the air conditioner on in the trailer and its too cold for me. Temp is around 80, and the sky is hazy from wildfires. We went to lunch a at a local brew pub. I had their veggie sandwich, ate the veggies and not much of the bread. I had a nice wheat beer, but boy did it make me sleepy. We stopped at a Japanese nursery that we've shopped at before. Dh got a small Japanese maple to add to his collection. And now we are back at the campground. I just finished one book, ready to start another. I think tomorrow we are driving to Tillamook, OR to the cheese factory, an airplane museum, and to a couple of lighthouses.
Hi Joe. I hope your tummy behaves tonight.
nursej22, how lovely, to sit outside and read! Your day sounds so relaxing, even eating out and checking out the nursery. Tomorrow sounds just as good. Enjoy!!
Ado, safe travels even though you have to get up so early for the flight!
Joe, hope J feels better soon, and that your tummy issues stop. Toast sounds good.
I had my semi-annual dental cleaning, and then picked up food from a local BBQ (on the way back home). Dh loves their BBQ, and they also make a great salad, with plenty of diverse greens and pickled cabbage, and kidney beans, and garbanzos, and -- well, it's really good! Then after lunch I went to the grocery store for a few things.
Forecast calls for rain off and on today, and for SURE tomorrow. It is cloudy, blustery, hot, and muggy, and has been spitting rain on and off all day. A nice change from hot clear skies and 108 degrees! We will spend our time inside, peeking out the windows and marveling at the rain.
Have a good evening!
Good evening, friends!
Yeah, I need a break...from all this going on here. I am really hoping that at hubby's Tuesday appt w/ a new-ish doc at our usual practice, the rehab question is settled and he's OFF to accomplish the cleansing of his system. That would be a lovely break for me.
He told me a friend of ours up in Asheville had gone to rehab (he was a way worse drinker than hubby at the time) and he was so bad at first, that they sedated him for two days. I don't think that's a common thing, so I told hubby to not get his hopes up about being sedated!
Today I ran to the pharmacy to get us our Mr. Al Praz Olam refills. Neither of us had any left for the last 2-3-4 days. It was a bad month and I took a third tablet a few afternoons so I could get through the day. (I take it 2x a day). Hubby also had taken extra Xanax during that time (he has a higher dose than I do.) ; I was worried about mixing the vodka and the Xanax, but apparently it didn't affect him adversely....well, maybe it actually did, come to think of it! DUH! This weekend I may wrap him in layers of that air-bubble packing material and tape it on really well, so if he was to fall....ah, well.
Last night, since I'd barely slept for 3 nights, I took one of Nannie's Trazadone. (Tonight I'll have the xanax so won't need the Trazadone.) Anyway, I didn't fall asleep very quickly, and I got up once because I was hungry; had a 2.5 ounce pack of wild-caught Pacific Salmon and a half a piece of pumpernickel bread....nothing added....and I switched to drinking ice water, also. Was determined not to have the GB kick up again. This morning I slept REALLY well between 6 AM until 1 PM, so I felt better. Then I ate some cantaloupe when I got up. Continued drinking the ice-water all day.
Well, just before I left for WalMart, hubby said he felt light-headed and 'funny' and he asked me to take his blood-pressure. Well, it was pretty high, as was his pulse. I said he needed to be seen NOW, but he said if I called the ambulance he would refuse to go to the ER. So I did the pharmacy run pronto, so he could have some of his xanax and maybe the BP would come down.
After I got home, he took 1 + 1/2 of the xanax. I asked him how much he'd had to drink, and he said : About 5 ounces. (really?) But his BP came down (I checked it several times...about every 30 minutes for 2 hrs,) So I guess he gets to stay home ....for tonight ?. THEN, he said, "You know, I'm not sure if I've had any blood-pressure medicine for about 2-3 weeks." OMG. Glad his appt is soon. This business of him ignoring of his health needs has GOT to stop!
I went out later to pick up the supper....he had his usual cheeseburger and french fries and I decided it would be a better idea for me to get a cold-plate, with very little mayo in the potato and chicken salad. I ignored the pasta salad, as I do NOT like the dressing they put on it. I ate about half of the plate that really was enough for two, put the rest of it in the fridge for whenever I feel like eating again. It also includes some cole slaw, tomato slices and a sliced hard-boiled egg. Anyway, I am hoping I continue to be 'good' about avoiding the dreaded, 'addictive' BUTTER! I picked up a few blended mix of spices to sprinkle on things so I won't be tempted to douse foods w/, yes, you're right, mo' beddah BUDDAH!
I guess that's all for now.
G'day
Ado, safe travels.
Joe, hope you have a good day and J was able to meet up.
Stars, you husband is a hot mess.
Dianah, hope the rain provides some relief there.
J22, enjoy your weekend. Sounds nice.
I can't say anything good about my day today at work. Stayed late again. Made a veggie burger and fruit for dinner.
Off for four days.

Ado that is a decent sized choir, kinda like what we used to have
Stars glad he wasn't hurt in the fall. Here's hoping he can keep it together until the appointment
Tweety hope that today is easier for you
NJ22 glad he's seeking help. Perhaps a nephroloigst would be a good idea
Yesterday was pretty good at work. Avoided the stew I made and had toast instead, felt better. Feel better this morning too, so far, so I think it may have been that recipe. Took some antiacids before bed to be sure
Did the grocery shopping and some errands last night. Went to choir practice, just me and the director, the other guy is out for a bit with Covid. Thankfully we're not singing any time soon
J is doing better so hopefully we will be able to meet tonight for dinner. If not we'll try for Sunday
Looks like mid 80s and sunny again today and tomorrow
