Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good day. Understandable why you would quit the choir. Sorry to hear about J's ongoing misery with allergies.
I'm waiting to get my refrigerator repaired. The window is 8-12 and it's 8:25 now and I got a text he's on the way and should be here by 8:49. Precise. But at least it's earlier rather than later. Hope he has the parts to fix it. It's been leaking now for about two months but is still working but I know it's straining the system.
Otherwise I'm washing sheets and going to the gym and grocery store.
Hope everyone has a great day and that struggles are few and manageable.
Good morning all! (it's still morning here on the West Coast ? )
A friend texted yesterday that she has an 86yo friend coming to visit on Sunday, who used to play mandolin, bluegrass style. My friend M asked if we (and she will invite others) will come to her house for food and to play some music. We said yes, it will be nice to see her and her husband and the others. Probably will be most of the ppl we play with in The Big Group which, while they are not bluegrass ppl, it will still be fun.
My hip is a little better but I feel like I am now officially "an old lady," as I have to be careful how I step with that leg, and I kinda limp. It is still painful with each step. I continue to be in "evaluate" mode, before setting up any appointments. You know the feeling: maybe it will go away? ?
Today I need to get to the grocery store for a few things, but other than that, have no plans.
Joe, sounds like you were READY to leave choir. Agree: when it's no longer fun, but a burden and a stressor, well, then stop. Hope J's allergies improve, they can be miserable.
Tweety, hope the fridge's is an easy "fix," and cool that the repairperson is EARLY rather than later!
((((((((((((((((((( No Stars ))))))))))))))))))
nursej22, hope camping is good!!
Ado, hello to you and to the gang!
Have a good day!
Hello from Death Valley. It’s hot, for us, anyway. 93 now and predicted to get to 103.
Dianah, I am like you with wait and see. It seems like my aches and pains will dissipate in the waiting room before a visit.
Joe, I hope J and you get allergy relief ASAP.
Ack, Annie. That sounds like a real mess to clean up. Glass goes everywhere.
we are leaving for lunch, see ya later.
My aches and pains move around, come and then completely go, slide by for a ghost of an ache. They convince me it's time to go back to my spine doc, but then they disappear. That's why they are called gypsies! The only one that didn't was when I had to have that cyst cut off where it was pinching a nerve in my right lower spine. Was told it was possible that it would grow back, but so far, so good; no twinges or stabs.
Get this: Last night, after supper I turned on the TV news. Hubby slept through it (no yelling at the TV!YAY!) and when he woke up, he stood up and said, "Well, have we decided what we're going to do about supper?" Uhhhh, we already ate supper. "We did? What did we eat?" KFC. "Oh, yeah, well I'll be darned, you're right." (Why thank you!) ?
I was going to do our laundry today, but it is too late to start......because I have a dreadful habit of starting a load and then forgetting to put it in the dryer. Then Nannie decides it is time for her to go to bed, and that's when I remember I hadn't followed through; have to make a note on my brain to put stuff in the dryer in the morning, or I'll forget for another day. Once I had to end up rewashing on a short cycle, just in case it'd been too many days of laying in a wet lump. (The laundry, not me!)
Nannie and I are having some chicken and dumplings, broccoli florets, and chopped spinach. I LOOOOVE chopped spinach, so I am hoping the other two folks decline or only take a small dab of it; I can eat a whole pkg of spinach by myself, with butter, lemon juice, salt and fresh-ground pepper.
Gotta go, hubby is making noise about supper--------------
Should have checked Nannie's bed earlier today; having to wash all of the bed linens and blankets, because she took the chux off and then sat on the bed, soaking everything through and through.
Hubby choked on the last of his supper. You know the saying we have : "If you can breathe in, you're okay." I just put the trash can beside him and a bunch of paper-towels and patted on his back to help move the stuff up as he coughed.
Ballgame is on but we are losing 6-0 in the 6th inning. Hubbys says he doesn't want to watch the Braves lose, so he said he was going upstairs to see what he can get into. It better not be more vodka, but I shouldn't hope it isn't.
Did I say I have unsubscribed from PCH on-line? Mostly because I get tired of it, if you enter on one page you get shuttled to another page and then another page, and you can end up spending 3 hours on it, and I'm tired of it and have been skipping a lot of entries. Hubby gets outrageously pissed when a PCH package comes in. EVEN though it costs him nothing, and many or most of the packages I send back, hassle-free and at no cost. He is so negative and mean about it, it sucks the fun out of it for me. "You aren't going to win anything. They just send a bunch of junk." True, sometimes, but I have gotten presents for family members that I know they enjoy and/or use, and have gotten a number of handy things for myself that I've never seen elsewhere. Oh well, the party's over. I never get on him about his drinking, but maybe I should. Of course, he won't get it, that I will be acting like he does, irrationally.
Enough.
We just finished with the online jam session.
Hip is feeling better! Will keep stretching it and walking too.
No Stars, you would have to share the chopped spinach with me, I love it with lemon juice (or vinegar) and S&P!! You and your situation (current situation w/dh and alcohol, and Nannie) are always in my prayers. Keep posting please.
Have a good evening!
We had chicken and dumplings earlier this week. I used the recipe on emeals (though I've made chicken and dumplings on my own a number of times) using refrigerated biscuit dough. It was good. And easy.
Hubs and I took a sunset drive in the convertible. Now I'm going to relax and read. I'm starting the last of the Harry Potter series.
Work had its ups and downs this week. Lots to do to get moved to the new hospital.
You know how it feels when you really want to (need to) cry, and you can't? That's me.
Nannie got up to go to bed and she was soaked from mid-back to knees, so it was strip, wash, dry, dress, finish making the bed, and as I was about to get her into bed, she says, "I have to pee." She just sat on the toilet for ten minutes without doing anything and now....I went in to get all the stuff to pitch in the trash, and the toilet seat was down and she hadn't peed at all. smh.

Dianah I hope your knee recovers quickly
NJ22 not a big fan of long trips myself
Ado that sounds like a mess of a day, glad things calmed down by the end
Tweety glad you had fewer patients than usual
Stars denial is so common with addiction, and makes it much more difficult for people to face what they're doing
Work was quieter today than yesterday. Had time to help others. Doing better with keeping anxiety under control, I think my job is a bigger source of anxiety than I normally acknowledge
Finally made the decision to leave the church choir, emailed the director yesterday. After my trip I realized how burned out I have become and how I'm doing too many things. A big change, I've done church choirs on and off for many years. But the enjoyment is gone and I now lack the time and energy for it
J is still struggling with allergies, I'm hoping the coming cold weather will mean they improve. My own allergies have worsened a bit but remain under control
Might get together with J tonight if he's up to it, if not then it will be a quieter night
Will be in the 50s today, might get some more rain
