Stars that is disappointing that she cancelled on you

NJ22 glad the check came through

Hi Tweety

Work started fine, morning was quiet enough that I did some of Friday's work too.  But in the afternoon the emails and faxes came rushing in and I was scrambling.  Made it out on time, but only by working as fast as possible.  Though this will make next week easier, having gotten so much done

Today could be tricky.  I'm supposed to leave early, by 2, as a reward for having 2 perfect audits in a row.  While this is a nice policy getting all the work done by 2 can be tricky, and because of that some people decline this honor.  I'm going to try to make this work, I have scheduled myself very lightly today.  However recently a coworker decided to take today off, so we'll see if I can indeed get everything done

Had some sleep issues last night, cat woke me up after midnight with her vomiting...which thankfully seems to be becoming more rare...and then annoyed me for attention.  The annoyance made it difficult to get back to sleep, though eventually I did

If I can get off by about 2 I plan to run a few errands, stopping at the post office and some small businesses nearby, as well as a clothing store.  Should have plenty of time for all that and to get back home in time to exercise and relax

Will be unusually warm today, supposed to get up to about 80.  Storms expected late tonight although the worst of it should be well south of me

Good morning!

Joe, congrats on the honor whether or not it pans out you still get kudos.

I forgot to silence my phone and got a notification from one of my apps that I didn't realize I had set to give me notifications.  I saw it was 6:45 and got up and fed Waffles, had a strong cup of coffee, changed the sheets and was to proceed with my day.  I walked by a clock and it said 5:30AM.  Apparently I was up since 4:45 AM.  I was wondering why I was feeling so wiped out and bleary eyed.  By then because I had coffee I couldn't sneak in anymore sleep.  Silly me.

Yesterday was kind of a rough afternoon.  We got a patient from the ER that quickly turned belligerent and making threats and saying he didn't care if he lived or died.  Really dude?  You couldn't have done this down in the ER and go AMA.  We wound up making him an involuntary psych admission, what we call a "Baker Act".  He seemed to know what that was and allowed the security officer to watch him strip and take all his belongings and clothes.  He was being biligerent to his nurse and sitter as I was leaving.  I hope he settled down by tomorrow.  Sad case though, he has mental illness and noncompliance and probably has cancer that he doesn't treat.

I also had a couple of other things going on around this time including someone needing a higher level of care and a patient that was refusing to leave when discharged.

Got called into my manager's office and she told me the pay for the new job offer apparently met a brick wall.  HR offered me the money, the VP of nursing approved it but then someone in "compensation" said no and kept saying no despite the VP trying to convince them to honor the original offer.  It was much less, but they gave me a "market adjustment" so it's only about $1.00 an hour less.  But that's a pisser as I lost my the charge nurse differential.  That manager promised during my next review she would make sure I was raised to the original offer.  I would have taken the offer anyway probably but still...

Going to do some laundry, go to the gym and get a haircut.  Probably watch some TV later.  Will try not to take a nap as I'm working the weekend.

Congrats, Joe -- I hope you got to enjoy your time off.

Tweety, that's a bummer about the job pay. Especially if you were on the fence at all about taking the job.

Stars -- hugs. Next week sounds promising.

We have LOTS of wind today. Even though our yard seems fairly saturated (you step outside in sock feet and your feet/socks get wet) there is dust blowing everywhere. And "they" say there is high fire danger. The power flickers every now and then. Apparently there are a lot of places without power. Hubs and I made a point of taking down the mast on the sailboat last night. It had been up since October when we put out our skeletal pirate. Of course we put the pirate and other stuff away, just never managed to take down the mast. He says he'd been meaning to anyway, so he could change the whatzit on the whoozit. I don't know.

Remarkably, the engine light on my car telling us about a problem with the catalytic converter went OFF and so far has stayed off since Hubs used a fuel additive that was supposed to "clean" the converter. He also bought kits to polish the lenses on the headlights and they look so much better.

A Filipina coworker has a friend who made Spring rolls for a fundraiser. That was my lunch and it was so good. I have more to take home to the rest of the family.

Hello all!

Tweety, what a bummer!  Such disorganization and non-transparency.  Hugs.  You will weather this.

Speaking of weather, we had a doozy last night, especially up in the local mountains.  Winds were reported at 80-100 mph.  It seems, where there were three eaglets before the storm, there are now just two in the nest.  For whatever reason.  So sad, but that is 'nature.'

The sun is shining here this morning, but it is still cloudy.  Well, it's after 12 right now, so it's afternoon, right?

We are monitoring one of the cats, Suzy (tuxedo of slight build).  She has lost weight (can feel her spine), and has had violent vomiting of water with small amounts of food.  Dh spoke with the vet this morning, who recommended a laxative for potential hair ball extraction.  Hair ball may be a partial bowel obstruction, I am assuming..   Will let you know how things go.

That's all for now.  Have a good day/evening.

We had a burst of wild weather yesterday afternoon. It was sunny and beautiful in the morning, but around 3 pm, it started raining, then hailing, then snowing, then back to rain. This was at the same time we went to retrieve our pick up from the dealership. They have to order parts for the repair, so we'll get it done when we return from our trip to Belgium.

Eldest ds sent me a picture of a rash and then called. He had been have a weird, intermittent pain, and then this rash popped up. Even though he's had shingles before, and a vax, urgent care agreed with my guess of shingles. Poor dude. Hopefully, it's caught soon enough that the meds can prevent post herpetic neuralgia.

I'm doing laundry and picking up stuff, and cleaning up the kitchen. I keep getting intermittent pain in one heel/achilles, which makes moving around uncomfortable. I don't want to aggravate it, but I got stuff to do! I need to get my carry-on bag back from dd, as I want to do some practice packing. And I need to get a retractable clothesline, maybe from REI, in the camping department.

My hubby's brother reached out via text, and I'm puzzled. He's had many health issues, and at times, estranged from the family. But now that MiL's been so sick, I think he's trying to reconnect. I have no animosity towards him, but his wife is "shudder",  a piece of work, and she's told other people what a witch I am. Awkward.

nursej22, isn't that the way it goes, to look forward to your trip to Belgium, while at the same time dealing with the daily stuff (your ds's rash) and the added stuff (hubby's brother reconnecting)?  I would not look forward to re-connecting with someone who is "a piece of work," as you have described her.  Ugh.  Do they live close-by?

Joe, were you able to get off at 2 as you wanted/arranged?

Oh, and it's my birthday today.  70th!  Dh keeps asking if I want to go out for lunch or dinner.  Nah, it's too much trouble to get ready, LOL!  I prefer to keep to the routine.  I have received texts from both the ds's, which was nice.  I got a nice card from my walking friend, S.   We will have a casserole tonight, that I made yesterday.   I am counting my blessings.  🙂

Have a good evening!
