Hello all!
Thanks Joe, I DID sleep better last night! Enjoy the potluck!
I walked with S yesterday, and got some great photos, with clouds coming in for a short storm. We had a bit of thunder after I got home, which was exciting! I stopped at the grocery store on my way home after the walk.
So, last night I made a low-carb "pizza," following directions from someone on FB. Slice cabbage to thin "steaks," place on cookie sheet. Top with S & P, bake @ 375 for 5-10 minutes. Remove from oven and top with pizza toppings of your choice. I spooned a little alfredo sauce on top, then some mozzarella cheese, some "chicken" seitan, thinly-sliced red onion, and sliced grape tomatoes. I sprinkled Italian Seasoning over the top. Then bake the "pizzas" till the edges are browned. It was delicious, and satisfied my pizza cravings without bread!
Today we return the RV to storage. Tomorrow I will attend a memorial service for someone I worked with when I worked in Radiology at the County Medical Center. She was one of the Rad. Tech. students who was then hired to work at the Med Center. She went through the program, while raising five young children! They are all grown now, with families of their own. She has battled breast cancer and lately a lymphoma. Her passing was somewhat of a surprise, and she will be greatly missed, as she was one of those kind souls who never knew an enemy.
No rain today, and temps are to be in the 60's.
Some photos from yesterday's walk, on the grounds of the Kimberley Crest Mansion, built in 1897 and later acquired by the heirs to the Kimberley-Clark fortunes.
Yes, stars, I like your approach. I keep reminding my self "the way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time." It seems sometimes though I'm trying to empty the ocean with a teaspoon.
Ugh, Tweety, your work sounds grim. I hope today you get at least a thank you from someone.
Joe, I'm now dealing with ants too. Rotten little buggers.
My dizziness suddenly abated Wednesday evening around 6 and I am so glad! I had a nice day yesterday: an enjoyable jog, went shopping with dh and a nice drive past the bay where the herons perch on the rocks and a little Netflix. I also went to a master gardener meeting where they talked about budget (boring). There were some strong personalities exchanging some sharp words about a seemingly trivial subject. Then I came home to watch the State of the Union speech. And fell asleep, LOL.
The repair fellow has the part for my dryer and will come by today to install. I have at least 6 tons of laundry waiting! Don't I know how to have a good time. 😉
Slept like the dead until 1 PM and woke up cussing about the late hour. After I got Nannie up, BiL came by with the new purple jacket SiL got for Nannie, and picked up the mail that is still coming here for Nannie.
Nannie's eyes are closed and her head is nodding to the side, so I am hoping this is the precursor to a deep sleep/nap for her. She never did settle down yesterday, and spent the day admiring and talking about her nails and her shoes, to the point where I did take 1/2 Xanax to quell my irritation with her.
BiL and SiL are driving up to Hendersonville to see her sister for the weekend; will be leaving this afternoon when SiL gets off work from the ABC store around 2:30 PM. In my head I am singing, "I'll drive away" instead of "I'll fly away"; I am having 'Escape Envy' in the worst way....worst because the weather is going to be rainy off and on, sometimes heavy, and I don't want to take off during the rains. Don't know where I'd go or where I'd stay or what I'd do......just WAY-AWAY. I know this is VERY Un-PC, but Nannie is like the tar-baby in which both my feet are STUCK. I am quite ready for a CHANGE. Don't know (or dare say) what or when, but I am leaning into it, hoping, nevertheless.
Yeah, it is obvious I am still funked-out. I tell you what, I had to get off the news feeds today because the political stories are slathered on thickly, everywhere! People on line are not debating, but are slamming each other with their particular points of view, and it isn't just tiresome or tedious, it is positively sickening. I may be on that extra 1/2 Xanax daily until after November. And I am watching many repeated reruns of shows on HGTV just to avoid all the election blathering.
I could probably fall asleep again pretty easily, as I am so worn out by my present-day world.
Loved the photos, dianah, most especially the one of the gorgeous TREE!
Epley! Thanks for the reminder. I can text that to SiL to relay to BiL.
Today my limited 'cleaning' project was to gather all the empty cardboard boxes sitting around in every room, and putting them all, nested, in the same area/pile in the former formal living room ---- to be used either to pack up stuff (like Nannie's 14 gazillion angel figurines, which SiL will sell on-line any that are in good condition.) or, to fold up and toss into recycling. I also gathered two 50 gal trash bags with blankets/sheets to donate to an animal shelter for dog and/or cat cages. I also washed the two days worth of dishes in the sink. That's it!
Tomorrow I may sort out old mail, and put the things that need shredding in the same bag, to take to one of the packaging/mailing services (oh, you know, like Fed-Ex or the other one) to be weighed and ditched into the shredding bin. One day I may start doing my own shredding again, but right now I am not so inclined (too much stuff takes too much time!). The stuff without my name and address on them can be tossed into recycling.
I also have a large garbage bag collecting things like clothes and books to take to the battered women's shelter store.
Nannie has slept quietly all afternoon; I will hate to wake her up for her supper, but it's gotta be done....but not for another 15 minutes!
. Gosh, Stars, you say you didn't do much but then you did get all kinds of things done!
Thanks for the pictures, dianah. Pretty place.
Joe, hope your potluck was a fun time.
I feel a little less swamped at work. It helps to get some uninterrupted time to get some of the more complex stuff done. *If* I go in tomorrow it will be just to have some more time without other schtuff to deal with.
The aide heard me coughing today and made me a hot ginger drink with honey. It really did help for a while.
My sister called last night because stepson had sent her messages and she interacted with him some and he talked about suicide. Reportedly he had to quit taking Latuda because of some side effects. Then was taking lamictal but got a skin rash. They are doing genetic testing to determine what to try next.
I'm in a house full of people (and pets) but feeling lonely and bored. Will try to make tomorrow a productive day.

Stars that seems a good way to approach cleaning without it being overwhelming
Ado I hope you don't have to come in on Saturday
Dianah hope you get some more sleep tonight
Tweety that does sound like a rough season
Was glad that yesterday, as predicted, was not too busy at work. Had time to do a balsamic mushroom recipe over lunch for the potluck tonight. After work went to the store for more ant traps, as the ones I had been using weren't keeping the ants away from the cat's food. Exercised as well
Feeling better, talking to the counselor yesterday helped. Also my sleep is improving, which is good. Was able to reflect on how far I've come and the future things I plan to do
Today the gay group has their potluck this evening. Also in the process of planning trips for this coming year. Given I'm on a small team we need to submit vacation requests well in advance
Going to be rainy today, in the upper 40s
