Going to be in the 60's today; there are high clouds, but no rain is predicted.
At the end of the day yesterday, I felt so bummed out....it seems like all I do is wash all of Nannie's sheets/blankets and remake her bed day after day after day, empty wastebaskets and do dishes. Can't hardly get caught up with my own stuff, and the list in my notebook/brain is longer and longer, with barely enough time to get my own errands done. There are places I need to seek out to get some of my long-undone plans done, but not enough time to wander and find them so I can get things accomplished. I cussed under my breath a LOT yesterday evening.
Have to get dressed and get the Nannie person up. SiL will be coming over after work; meanwhile. Nannie will be by herself in the time between when I have to take Momo to the vet and SiL gets off work and will come over here. I was going to get up earlier and sneak out for a few errands, but naturally, although I did wake up at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30, I couldn't summon spit to get just UP at those times. My own worst enemy sometimes.
I'll be back to let y'all know about how Momo's appt turns out.
Hello all!
No Stars, one thing at a time. Yah, the daily grind just goes on, and to get the other projects done? One thing at a time.
Tweety, good you have a day off. How are bowling stats?
Hello Joe!
We went to Disneyland yesterday, and had a good time walking around. Got in over 12K steps, 4.5 miles. We got to see old friends, met some new ones, and rode the train and the Columbia "sailing" ship. We had recently read that the one at Disneyland is a full-size replica of the real ship, which was the first American ship to circumnavigate the globe, in the 1790's. Seeing the one at Disneyland, and riding on it, with this information in mind, gave us new eyes looking at it! The weather was beautiful, just got a little chilly after the sun went down. We, however, walked through Downtown Disney at night, back to our car, probably at least 1/2 mile. The traffic was pretty heavy on the way home; it took us 1.5 hr to get home, instead of the usual 1 hr. And THEN, after I was all ready for bed, I couldn't sleep -- had restless legs. I got probably four hours in. A nap is in my sights today...
Here are a couple photos: the Columbia on the Rivers of America, the Columbia and then the Haunted Mansion (down for refurb) at dusk, and one of us, dapper:
Have a good day!
Good afternoon, Cool and sunny here, with a cold wind. We had some flurries of snow yesterday, but it was too warm (36) to stick. High winds forecast for tonight, but we seldom have power outages. dd is dog/house sitting for us, so I will get out a couple of flashlights out, just in case.
I met dd for coffee yesterday and we had a quick catch-up. Then I walked over to my facial appointment and I was, frankly, not that impressed. I expected the big upsell on products, but I left with a rather greasy face. And later I had some red raised bumps and my eyes got puffy and burned. I dropped off a check for the contractor, and he will order materials and start on the 26th. dd called later to ask if I could give grandson a ride to his cello lesson, and of course, I did. dh went out to dinner with eldest ds and apparently they had a big argument. It was, yet again, about old complaints between dh and his siblings. Gah. Y'all are in your 60s, grow up! Dogs and I binged on the White Lotus. Beautiful locale, in Sicily, weird story about rich narcissists.
We are picking up grandson after school today to drive to Seattle for a couple of days. We are going to the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival on Saturday, and the aquarium on Sunday.
Dianah, we visited the USS Constitution when we were in Boston, and were able to chat with some sailors who are stationed on it and interact with visitors. And the Lady Washington, a tall ship, has visited our local port and we've gone to tour it. It was used in one or two of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Stars, I have lots of stuff I want to get done, but sort of get stuck because I feel like I will get interrupted or what I do will get undone. I hope Momo has a good vet visit.
Joe, it does seem like your workflow is not as chaotic as it was previously, or at least you don't get a lot of last minute stuff. I don't know what I would put on a dating profile, "grumpy old lady" perhaps.
Joe, I love the Charlie Brown episodes. When the boys were little my mom had a VHS tape of BON Voyage, Charlie Brown! and the boys watched it over and over when we visited.
Stars, I hope all is well with Momo. I, too, have a long list of things I want to get done (beyond the daily grind) and would sure like to have a significant period of uninterrupted time to work on some of them.
dianah, love the hat! The Columbia looks like a neat sailing ship.
J22, hope you have a lovely weekend in Seattle!
It's windy here and bringing in cold air, with an expected low of 26 by tomorrow morning. But it will warm up again to a high of 75 on Wednesday.
It has been a busy week at work, and I stayed and helped out on the floor until a PRN nurse could come in last night. Got the temporary crown Tuesday and will get the permanent one next Wednesday. Spent much of today preparing for the med staff meeting on Monday. Also took Binx to the vet for another anal gland expression (I never knew that was a problem for cats). Got his rabies vaccine for the next 3 years and another round of dewormer since we saw roundworms in vomit last week, although his stool sample is negative (good to hear). While I was there, I picked up Darby's ashes which arrived today. I probably wouldn't have kept them but Twin A wanted to. They also gave us a plaster stone with her paw print.
Hubs is still wavering on what to do with his mom. Today he decided he had been too rigid with what had become the routine, and he needs to be more go-with-the-flow. So, okay, he can try that and see how it goes. When I dropped Binx back at the house, the hospice nurse was there and they were talking but I didn't get involved. Gma seems physically weaker and would choose not to walk if she could. This morning Hubs told me that the doctor had ordered another med (depakote?) to try to calm her down but no med will work if she refuses to swallow pills. I wonder if we are on the brink of a major change. Or a big slide downhill.

Stars that's good that they can get her in pretty soon
Was a bit busy at work but not too bad. Still getting used to the new workflow as we're no longer using the assistants. Had counseling over lunch
After work ran an errand, exercised, and spent some time working with the dating apps. Starting to get the hang of them, expect to soon start reaching out to people. As expected most of the people I see don't spark any interest but there are a few that do.
Nothing planned after work tonight except exercise. Could do more dating app work, or maybe start on my taxes, though that may wait until the weekend
Colder today and tomorrow, in the mid 30s. Which means I'll skip bird watching tomorrow and do some baking
