Got up earlyish and took my meds and went back to be; slept until noon. Found Nannie RECLINING in her recliner ..... somehow she managed to make the foot rest work and rise up. Never has done that before! Welp, I have to get her up to the bathroom and get her dressed, then get her breakfast, then walk Tinker. And I still haven't done any dishes, so I will have to clean up the kitchen. Some of the stuff from the previous laundry didn't get all the way dry, so I have to run them through and fold them. I fantasize about having a few days to get my room straightened up, but I have no idea of WHEN that might happen!
Funny thing about Tinker .... in the evening when I go up to my room, I bring the floppy toy monkey, the chew bone, and one of the baby-sloth toys up for Tinker. Then after her snacks, she goes down and brings up each of the other toys one at a time, so they are all on the bed before we go to sleep. After I feed her breakfast, I can tell you, she will go upstairs and start bringing her other few toys down to the sofa. Gotta have all your 'stuff' with ya, doncha know!
Can't put off Nannie-duty, so I'm gonna get up and do it to it.
Morning, all. It is raining, although my phone says sleet is coming down, the temp is 40, so I don't think that's sleet. The dogs did NOT want to go out to relieve themselves, but I was able to convince them with a gentle shove. The big wind storm never materialized, here, which I am glad of.
We had a houseful yesterday ( 9 people and 2 additional dogs), with a lovely meal, gift exchange, and a game card game, that is somewhat like canasta. Eldest ds and I sat out the card game and did a jigsaw puzzle. I slept in my new fleecy pjs that dh gets me every year.
Annie, that is something that gma recognized your step-son. It's amazing with will emerge from a brain.
Stars, those were some lovely, thoughtful gifts. My sis, who has similar wide short feet like me got me some comfy slippers that I have on right now.
Joe, I like Trader Joes frozen meals occasionally, too. I just keep forgetting to shop there.
Tweety, I hope your sister wasn't too hurt. Again, there is no predicting what the dementia brain will formulate.
On Christmas eve we watched Its a Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Story.
Pho sounds lovely right now, on a wet, drippy day, but I don't want to go out. Plus, dh has taken my car to take his mom to the chiropractor, leaving me with the pickup with a dead battery. Eldest ds should be coming by soon to take our loveseat to be reupholstered. One of his good friends has an upholstery business that got flooded and we wanted to give him some quick business to generate some cash.
Regarding eyeglasses, I have worn them since I was 3, and I hate, hate, hate them. For about 15 years I was able to wear contacts, and I felt so unburdened. I don't really care what I look like, but I would love to not be constantly pushing them up, cleaning them, deal with fogging, and have to switch when the sun is in my eyes, not to mention the cost. I look forward to cataract surgery so I can see the stars clearly, again.
Happy Boxing Day, all!
No Stars, that is a cute quirk of Tinker's, to bring all her things to be where she is! Animals are a joy.
nursej22, that sounds like a VERY nice day, ending with new pj's!! And that's thoughtful of you, to provide business for the upholsterers!
Hi Joe, enjoy your walks!
It should rain all day today, then be just cloudy tomorrow. We have no plans to go out (I.e., I don't need anything at the grocery store!!).
Have a good day!
Nannie is doing her "sort-of, kind-of" sleeping, ie, she isn't out like a light yet. It is chilly here in the den, so maybe turning from AC to a low heat setting, will soothe Nannie into actually falling DEEPLY to sleep! I am going to go upstairs and make a racket in the kitchen and put my hands in some hot soapy water. Hope Tinker doesn't see all the robins covering the backyard lawn (fallen leaves) so she won't bark and bark. Maybe she will follow me up to the kitchen and miss seeing the birds.
Good evening.
Sounds like y'all had a decent Christmas and Boxing Day.
Dianah, the pain in my RLQ is still there, it seemed a bit worse yesterday but that was my first day back on a lot of walking. Today seemed better. Odd I should be hurting 7 days post op but I'm sure it will be better soon. Google AI says it sometimes can last a couple of weeks. Ugh...of course I would be that person.
Tinker sounds so cute.
We would always play some sort of board game when we all were adults at Christmas.
Work today was okay until the final hour when I had two patients crashing at the same time. Of course we usually have two Rapid Response nurses and today there was one. The 2nd rapid response was sepsis and he responded and we kept him. The other one was really crashing and burning respiratory wise and BP wise. Happened fast. Took a while to get her an ICU bed. We are running high census and low on staff. Lots of staff out with the flu.
I saw a post on Facebook from a news organization about the rise in flu cases this year in Tampa Bay and that travel may make it worse and the ignorance of Floridians just stuns me. I hate this state sometimes. They merely reported the news and they acted like it was fake news and a conspiracy theory.
Sorry for that rant.
We have seen a lot of flu in the ER though only a few have been admitted or transferred. Two crashing patients at end of shift sounds stressful.
I went to work for a few hours. No big problems there so didn't stay all day. We made tacos for dinner and they were tasty. Stepson brought a box of books that he got somehow. Not what I usually read but still should be pretty good reading. Sandra Brown, Anne Perry...
The kitten is inside an empty gift bag that someone left out. She seems well entertained.

Stars glad they were generous with the gifts, good that they do appreciate all you do
Tweety glad you did hear back from your sister
Dianah sounds like a nice day
Ado glad she seemed more aware
Yesterday was much quieter than the day before. Went outside in the morning for a longer than usual hike. Made some stuff from Trader Joes, didn't want to cook so it was just prepared stuff that needed cooking. Decided to go on another shorter hike to a park I hadn't been to before Watched the Grinch, still impressed by the imagination of Dr. Seuss. Watching part of White Christmas but lost interest, think I've seen it too many times. Did a little online shopping
Today hopefully will be quiet at work, not a lot scheduled but will have a coworker off today through next Friday. Not much planned after work except for exercise
Will be a bit warmer today, up to 50
