Good morning!
Ado, 50 years is indeed a long time. Where does the time go?
Joe, congrats on the weight loss.
Didn't post yesterday. Work was a big much. At shift change a patient decided to go into rapid a-fib and I gave IV Lopressor and stayed with the patient a bit monitoring BP and heart rate before turning him over. It worked for a little while but he was all over the place. Unfortunately the night nurse was a new grad and three times she interrupted me during report to say "high heart rate is 120!!"...."his heart rate is 130!!!" "his heart rate is 120!". Fortunately though they had a free charge and the rapid RN was following. He was to get some oral meds and weight and see but I didn't need an update every two minutes. It was her first night on her own and she was in panic mode. I know the feeling.
Also the floor had four or five "Karens" whose complaints I had to listen to. Honestly I thought someone put something in the water and only females drank it. Stupid stuff. "My spirit doesn't like the nurse assigned me to me from the moment she walked in". "Everything is horrible" "I want to be asked to take my medications and not told "take your medications". "I heard the nurse laughing outside of my room and I know it was about me". On and on...
I got home at 9pm and ate some pasta and went to bed.
So, to start with some good news....I have lost another 5 lbs, so I guess I am at my "goal"....which just means I don't want to gain anything back, but I don't need to lose too much more. // And the vet said Tinker has lost two and 1/2 lbs, so he said to "just feed her some more!" She isn't complaining about that! // I suppose our weight losses are from all the yard walking we do every day.
SiL took Nannie to daycare; I didn't see or hear her when she came. Unfortunately I will have to retrieve the Nannie-person in two hours and 45 minutes. Yip-noooo-I mean PHOOEY!
Did I say I did all the dishes yesterday? I did. Also got the trash out to the end of the driveway. Being a 'housewife' ain't exactly my idea of 'having a life'. Never-ending TEDIOUS tasks.
I emptied and cleaned out the hummingbird feeder because I had forgotten to grease the pole it hangs from, and it was INUNDATED with carpenter ants.....I mean dozens and dozens plus dozens floating in the sweet water, which I imagine would have been NOT altogether too sweet after all those dead ants were floating in it. And when I pulled the cup-thingy from which the hummingbirds feed....lawsie-lawd, there were more dozen-plus dozens-and many dozen more dead ants that came out of there and just kept coming, the more I rinsed it and shook it. Don't reckon the hummingbirds were too thrilled with THAT! So it is washed and refilled and the pole got a healthy dose of Vaseline so the ants couldn't get up to their previous entry point(s). Ants; what is their purpose on this earth?
I just washed my hair in the kitchen sink after I FINALLY trimmed my bangs. Speaking of washing hair in the kitchen sink, I once had a Jewish boyfriend whose parents kept kosher, and he never told me that.....they walked back into the house WHILE I was washing my hair in their kitchen sink. Me! A shiksa washing my hair in their kosher sink. GAD, was I ever embarrassed when I found out what a horrible faux pas I had committed. The looks on their faces were very telling. And I imagine my boyfriend got into trouble for 'allowing' it to happen! YIKES!
I am going to get up and dry my hair and put some 'daytime' clothes on (still in pj's at 2 PM! Tsk-tsk!) Guess I ought to take Tinker out. SiL took her out earlier; she had told me to leave the harness and leash in the den and she would walk her while Nannie was eating her breakfast.
I think Nannie bears watching during meals as she now does even weirder things like pour her chocolate BOOST from the bottle into her teaspoon and then mixes it in with her cran-apple juice. Or the yogurt into the cran juice. She still has 'trouble' finding her spoon (it's in her right hand) when I say to put it down on the tray because she doesn't need to use it after the yogurt is gone. And then I tell her there is a small stack of folded paper towels on the lamp-table beside her, and she looks EVERYWHERE ELSE for them. And anything I say to her has to be repeated three times or more before she 'gets it'. Pitiful.
Okay, I know there was something else I was going to say, but as usual I have stepped on a slick spot in my brain and the thought just slides away.
oof, it is getting warm here, already up to 85 at noon. I know most of you will scoff at that temp, but it sure feels hot to me! I was doing some digging to make room for dh's new daylilies, and vacuumed my car, and had sweat dripping from my brow. I was up early to get a hitch installed on my car so I can use the bike carrier. I had to leave it for a couple of hours so went out to breakfast.
My prescription still hadn't arrived, so they gave me enough pills to last until Monday. I like my little local independent pharmacy, but they struggle to get one of my meds every month. I may have to switch to Costco, where dh gets his injectable drugs.
J22, I'm glad you mentioned prescriptions since I needed a reminder to pick up one up before I go home. Glad you and dianah enjoyed your trips.
Tweety, I think it was dianah with the 50 year anniversary coming up. Hubs' sister and her husband would have been married 50 years this year. I, on the other hand, was 12 in 1975 (until November).
Indiana was overcast and had highs of about 80 degrees so it was a refreshing change from the heat here, although the gray skies reminded me that was one thing I did not appreciate about the Midwest. It's 93 here today but the humidity is only 33% and the dew point 59 so it is actually pretty comfortable. I'm reading a book about the Galveston hurricane of 1900 -- lots of meteorological detail but rather interesting.
Stars, Nannie's mealtime habits sound similar to Gma's, e.g. pouring things from one place to another, forgetting the spoon in her hand, or what spoons are for. Then she rattles the spoon around in her juice glass for awhile. Then hides the dishes in her blanket or clothes so we don't take them away.

Stars that is aggravating dealing with someone who you can't seem to please
Dianah glad the cardiologist appointment went OK
Happy anniversary NJ22
Was a pretty good day yesterday, not too busy at work. Not much after work except exercise. Planning to get together with my friend B, who is back in town after travelling for a few weeks
Weighed myself and found out I'm about halfway to my goal, another 3 pounds or so should do it. Hopefully get to that point before the end of next month
Work shouldn't be too bad today, although we do have a coworker off and I can see there are already things for me to do. Nothing going on after work, might stop by a local microbrewery
Will be a bit warmer today, up to the low to middle 80s
