Good morning!
Joe, hope you have a good day without computer glitches.
J22, hope the dog continues to improve.
I'm pretty much packed and will be leaving for the airport in about an hour. Yesterday I was high anxiety. It's most likely related to the trip and going home after not being there 30 years. Not the fondest of memories in that town. Took a Klonopin and seemed to rest okay although I got up once at 5AM and struggled to fall back asleep. Anyway, the anxiety is mostly gone (love Klonopin..which the doctor said to use as a back up to the what is proving to be non-effective Trazadone).
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Will be good to check on the parents and spend time with my sister.
Hope everyone has a good day. I'm sure I'll be on my phone as it's probably going to be a bit boring at times. ?
Happy April Fools Day
Joe, I hope your computers cooperate today. We are so dependent on them now.
Tweety, I hope you are able to enjoy your visit with your family. Sorry your memories aren't good ones. I have fond and not-so-fond memories of this place and certainly never thought I'd end up living/working here at this point in my life! But, yeah, check in with us. We'll try to keep you entertained ?
According to my phone, it's 35 degrees here this morning and I AM INDIGNANT. It is supposed to warm up, then maybe rain some more, but the next days look to be in the high 60s/low 70s. Sunday there is a volunteer appreciation event at the wildlife rehab, and that evening I'll go feed squirrels again.
Happy April Fool's Day, all. Partially sunny here, in the 40s, but it is supposed to rain this evening. I peeked out last night and early this morning to see if I could see the Northern Lights, but did not see anything glimmering, but there were some clouds partially obscuring the north sky. I stopped to get my eye glasses checked, and was on time for my appointment. They are still making appointments even for adjustments. But the staff were late, one over slept, and one was on a broken down bus. Weird. So I was a little late to work. And my Google took some time to open, but it was just updating. I was afraid it would go down like Joe's computer. Yes, we are very dependent of these things. I got a message from the cardiology office last night to call and schedule an appointment. Which I did, but they can't get me in for a month! Well, I guess its not critical. Apparently they want to tweak something on my pacer, but heart wise, I feel fine. I talked to dd last night, to get the details on our trip to Portland in 2 weeks to see Hamilton. We were going to take the train, but will drive instead to have more flexibility around travel times. Tomorrow we are going to MIL's place, because she is sure we want some of her stuff as she prepares to move out. Uh, not really, but we make take stuff and then donate or toss later to spare her feelings.
I live in the same community where I grew up and have mixed feelings about being here, but mostly its positive. Sometimes the politics of the long time locals chaffs me, but I'm sure I chaff them too, LOL.
Gouda Afternoon to one and all~
Sunny and in the mid 60's.
The neighbor who mows our lawn did so today, and then brought his chainsaw over and started on cutting some slabs off the downed trunk. Next thing you know, the other neighbor who wants the wood was ringing our doorbell! He said he still wanted the wood from the tree, but he had to attend a conference at work this past week, one of his sows is about to drop a litter, and his firepit had collapsed due to all the rain, so he is trying to either rebuild it or dig another one...so he hadn't had time to come over here and saw wood. Hubby said that was okay, the wood was still his if he wanted it, but the other guy had started sawing so he could roll some of it out of the way and mow that part of the lawn for us. (The guy who wants the wood does not like the guy who mows for us.) Anyway, hubby got it all straightened out, and that was sort of that!
But, the wood is not GONE yet! Nannie just said, "Is that pile of trash still out there?" When I said yes, she made a face indicating her disgust. When she wants something done she expects everybody to SNAP TO IT! The thing is, it is being done for free, and she sure doesn't want to pay anyone to haul it all off. [so, live with it, Nannie!]
The gypsies had an April Fools party in my left knee last night, and my right knee is echoing some knee pain, too. I had to get the ice-packs out today. I'm limping like Grandpa McCoy. Later I'll do a heat pack. Other little gypsy mischief is going on in my deltoids, my right elbow and hand (wrist, thumb, index and middle fingers and all the knuckles). I'm not sure but I may have missed my mouth when I took my pills last night and didn't get my Arthur Itis pill....couldn't find it anywhere. I may have swallered it, but I didn't know for sure, and didn't want to take a chance by taking second one. So I took the dose this morning and maybe by tonight's dose, the gypsy's will have gotten the message and cleared out. (Hope so!)
No, I wouldn't want to live in my home town, but would consider a few towns over...except then I'd be right back in the NE winters, so, no deal. AND, It is expensive up there!
j22- We have some furniture we have been trying to get rid of since we moved here. Four different people said they were interested, but then never came to get it, and never mentioned it again. Now a woman (who used to work at the convenience store a mile away) has said she and her hubby and child were moving into a place with no furniture, and hubby offered it to her. He told her we could not do any lifting, so she needs to find someone with a truck who will help her load it up. We'll see if she does.
Ado, I wouldn't mind volunteering with critters at a nature center, but there isn't one around here. I'm not sure if there are any places like that nearer to 'the big city' but I HATE the roads in that city and wouldn't go there unless I had to. (Hubby drove me the two times I had to go into the city to have an ablation of the cyst pressing on spinal nerve, eliminating the sciatic pain.)
Hubby is indignant because tonight is supposed to be Meatloaf Night at the family restaurant we frequently get take-out from....and they are CLOSED (again) because they don't have enough people to staff it tonight. They also have permanently quit opening on the weekends. He says he doesn't know how they can expect to stay in business if they close down a few days every week or so. And sometimes they close at 3 PM intermittently, without notice except for a sign on the door or a voice message when you call their # to place an order.
I guess Nanny and I will go on Monday to get our booster vaccinations. They have J&J's available all day on Mondays. Today it was for 'only after 2 PM', but we couldn't get it together to go today. Nannie wants her covid injection ASAP, but I don't know if she realizes what the vaccinations are for, because they certainly don't contain any med to make her feel better, but that's what she says, "I felt so much better after taking that shot!" and "They work REALLY GOOD!" Okay, then, have it your way, Nannie.
Gotta go because hubby has arrived with our alternate choice for supper -- KFC.
Later!
Nannie can't tell the difference between the lawn mowing neighbor and the neighbor who wants the wood. So, after the lawn guy finished and left, and after we had eaten supper, the guy who wants the wood came over with his gas-powered log-splitter and started breaking the big slabs into fireplace sized logs to haul back to his house, in his work-wagon.
Hubby explained it to her and went over who was who, and what each of them were doing for us. When he went outside and I came down to the den, she asked me to explain it to her 4 times in 20 minutes. Then hubby came back in and he had to go through all of it again, two more times.
The neighbor who wants the wood has come over to get a second load of logs, and now she's griping about the big pile of branches and twigs "is still there". Hubby told her it is only ONE man doing this after he worked all day, and that the big piles are going to have to wait until another day to be cleared up. She then asked if there weren't two guys. At that point, hubby got so tired of her, HE went out to help by raking up the little chips and sawdust. I know he'll come in all out of breath. He WANTS to be able to help and/or work at things like he used to, but he is just not able to these days. But, oh, Nannie is "happy" now....all the while complaining about what's not done yet. Makes me want to scream.
I have muted out the TV so many times that I don't know what the point is of turning it on at all. She is sitting up and forward watching them work, and when they speak to each other, she asks ME what they are saying. Even with the TV muted and my hearing aids in I cannot hear them. HOW am I supposed to KNOW what they are talking about?
God Bless America! Jimminy Crickets! Chocolate-Fudge Ripple! Some of the Beets! ( in lieu of cuss-words)
Hubby just came in the front door and went up to his room to take a snort off one of those little portable O2 cans I got as a just-in-case treatment. Good thing I did get it. I knew one day he'd need a PRN.
Now he is gouging at Nannie: What are you going to gripe about when the tree is all gone? She said, "What? I don't understand." (yuh.)
Maybe she will go to bed soon. (maybe)
He's home. Did so well he skipped the rehab facility. He is indeed fortunate to have received such timely and skilled intervention. Very fit guy. Would never have thought this would happen. He was taking care of Hubs' sister, also 65 but with Alzheimer's, until this happened. She is in a nearby facility now.

Happy April Fool's Day
Tweety have fun on your trip
NJ22 glad the dog is better, hope your son heals quick
Dianah that sounds like a fun time
Hi Amo
Stars we've had a lot of rain here too, hoping for some dry weather
Ado I did handbells for a while but it was too much to do that and choir
Got an early start at work yesterday, but our computer system decided to do an early April Fools joke and our case management software went down. Thankfully mine was working intermittently, so I was able to get everything planned done. Stayed a little late, boss had reviewed files and wanted me to make some thankfully minor corrections which I did.
After work stopped at the grocery store and the library, then came home and exercised.
Starting early again this morning, hopefully no computer problems this time. Will meet J for dinner as usual.
Will be in the 40s again today but at least the rain has stopped
