Fresno City College (FCC) - Fall 2025/Spring 2026 RN program

Published

I recently applied to FCC's nursing program but I'm just confused on the selection process. I see/hear a lot of conflicting information about how they actually go about it. even the website kind of confused me. do they do 100% lottery system or points based & lottery? if anyone knows it would really help me out. I took my TEAS really late (Jan 11) so im kinda only left with community colleges this cycle.

I don't think the cost are accurate. I was wait listed for COS and I did the RN mandatory meeting and the tuition was like over 6k. While Fresno city the updated tuition for 2023 amounts about around 7k. Not really a difference, but you always want to put into consideration distance. What's closer to you.
have you tried covered California that's what I go through and you will either pay 0 or maybe up to 10 bucks. Last year I paid 0 bucks, this year I pay 10 a month. Of course there's a copay but it's only 35 bucks. Depending on how much you make for work.

You are right, those costs are not accurate--thank you for letting me know about COS being over 6k. I live in Fresno, but I am renting and I am not against moving to Visalia to be closer to the school, especially if rent is cheaper. I can't see myself driving to Visalia everyday from Fresno, unless I can listen to lectures while I drive LOL.

I will look into Covered California once I quit my full-time job. I am getting all this healthcare work done right now, going to my doctors, before I lose my health insurance.

It's April 8th (currently 1AM LOL) & I still haven't gotten any notifs... There's only two days left and I'm starting to lose hope :’) SOOOO NERVOUS, I've been checking my emails every hour

It's okay we got this! I am also like this and what I'm holding on to for hope is that some previous students didn't receive their emails till end of April especially since a few people here have said they might decline FCC acceptance. 💜

Has anyone heard back from Lemoore?

I received an acceptance email for Fresno City College on Friday, April 4 for fall 2025.

I had a 4.0 GPA in all the nursing pre-requisites, 87.3% on my TEAS, a non-science BA from an accredited university, and I will be finishing all the classes for my Pre-Allied Health and psychology associate degrees this Summer at FCC. I had 87 points total for the nursing application and a 3.7 GPA overall. I have no medical/healthcare background. I kind of feel like this is a sign from above telling me, yes, become a nurse!

I also got into the College of the Sequoias for fall 2025, which I am leaning towards because they appear to be the more inexpensive choice between the two and they seem to have a strong program.

Now, I am trying to figure out two things:

-how will I pay for health insurance (I am an older student with no one supporting me; no dependents either)

-if I need to have a part-time job, where could I work that would give me basic health insurance for part-time hours

I'm in a similar situation as you, deciding which school to go to. From what I've gathered, COS seems to have a more solid program and current/past students have said professors go above and beyond to help them while I've seen some say Fresno city can be more on your own. I've also seen some say you attended classes less at COS, so there's room for a part time if needed & that at fcc it's M-F long days. Cost wise, they're roughly around the same.
since you said you'd be quitting your job, wouldn't you qualify for medi-cal then since you won't have income?

It's hard! But don't lose hope.
I've also been checking my emails every hour:,) We got this.

I have a friend who went to the program and said if you quit your job, there's a program that will help you pay for tuition at FCC. You have to go to FCC Financial Aid to inform them you are no longer employed. I believe it's called the Promise Grant.

Does anyone personally know or heard of someone who has gone through the fcc program? How was their experience/thoughts?

I have a friend that said they are backed up as well and should be sending out emails the 3rd week of April!

Just got my acceptance letter to the Spring 2026 cohort! For anyone who's looking to compare, I was at around 85 points, with a 4.0 science GPA and a 3.4 Non-science due to a C in an English class due to a missed final 😢. I had a 90% on my TEAS as well with 0 previous medical/nursing experience.

That a very high TEAS score. What did you use to study for the TEAS?
