It’s free (outside of like $10 to send transcripts and some stamps) so I thought why not… some fluke could happen. My points *should be* 66, but I’m struggling to get documentation of my disability and I may only get a 64.5. They told me low 70s should get you in.

Oh god don’t remind me.
I applied to a college in Tennessee and I find out in October. If not, it’s FCC and some other colleges in Tennessee in December-April again, hoping broadening my horizons gets me in somewhere.
Honestly FCC is my first choice, but at this point I’ll take whoever takes me. If you want to come out to Tennessee, they are far lighter on the requirements to get in, and usually look at prerequisite GPA, and no program requires Chemistry.
I'm giving FCC (and nursing in general) one last try, but if I don't get in I'll be working on a AS-T in Biology at the same time so I can go to Fresno State and get BS in Biology and work in a lab. I loved Chemistry and Microbiology, so I think it's a good backup. I was going to do the prerequisites for BSN, but I read this year even people with a 4.0 GPA were being rejected.
If nothing else, the coursework will at least keep me busy (very busy) while I wait for next application period.

Honestly next year is my last year trying Fresno City too, well I’m giving just public institutions in general one last chance, may have to dish out the dough to go to nursing school at a private college. I applied to CoS, just applied to a college in Tennessee, and then applications for 2 other colleges in Tennessee, FCC and CoS open again late this year/next year. If by April I’m not hearing I got into a program, I’m going to maybe look into ABSN programs or maybe MSN programs
I just got hired on at Valley Childrens so at least I will have that to occupy my time until I get into a program. I have decided to just pull the trigger and apply to National University, it’s pricey but worth it. I will still apply to all the community colleges as well but if I get into National I would start in Aprill and be done in 22 months with my BSN. I am just ready to get into school and get done. I am not getting any younger

That’s great! May I ask what you got hired as at Valley Children’s? That’s good for experience and better chances at getting into an RN program. I think National would be worth it. I wanted to apply there this upcoming cohort but I have three prereqs to complete. I can take one of those at a community college (public speaking) to save me the 1500 it’ll cost to take at National. So I’ll be applying there next cohort.

That’s a good plan. I work in a micro lab and I do enjoy it. My plan B was to work as a clinical lab scientist. However, I got a biology degree at FCC (w/out transfer) and my counselors didn’t tell me if I want to get a bachelors in biology it’s a whole different path, so I’d essentially be starting over. If I want to finish my bachelors degree within 2 more years my only option is public health ?

Thanks! I got hired as a PCT (Patient Care Tech) its a float position so I will get to experience every department which I am so excited about. I took Public Speaking over the Summer at community College but start the bio stats class at National at the end of this month.. definitely take the pre red’s that you can at Community.. way cheaper

Clinical lab scientist is my current plan B. Im going to be working on the AS-T in Biology, and it is not going to be easy. Im taking STEM algebra, trigonometry, biology 11a, and an art class (basic breadth for CSU) this fall, and Spring and fall 2022 arent going to be much better with all the other math, Chemistry, and physics I'll need to do.

Nice! I always thought about applying to that position for the experience. Yes I’m hoping my statistics class will transfer in then I’ll only have to pay for one class.

I’m applying last minute, which is really irresponsible I know, and I’m trying to get paperwork proving I’m a disabled student. If I can’t get it, my score is only a 64.5, it would be a 66 if I can. I lose out on a lot of points for not having a healthcare certification, knowing another language or having any volunteer work. Wish they didn’t weigh that stuff so much, that accounts for like 10-15 points I lost.
