i badly need your advices,,, im experiencing too much pressure now because my mother will sacrifice her vacation here in the philippines just to pay for those examinations... :o

got it guys,,, maybe ill just show the site to my boyfriend... our argument just started when i ask him about the ssn,,, then he started saying that i can get ssn only if i pass the cgfns... how true is that? all i know is that if the state i choose don't require cgfns i will still be given a visa if i passed the nclex... am i ryt?

To get a SSN you need to be in the US with a valid work permit so just passing CGFNS will not do it. To get a visa you need to go through the application for immigration and you need a visa screen certificate for immigration and for that you need a pass in either NCLEX or CGFNS but to actually work in the US as a RN you need to pass NCLEX. So show him the requirements and if necessary show him this forum and get him to read up on it.

Thank you so much Silverdragon, i have learned so much from all the posts you have from all the threads i read. This forum is really working for us Filipinos.

As for Kish15, we share the same situation. I will also be applying for California and right now I'm just waiting for my finger print card to arrive. However I haven't got any schedule for nclex though.

My cousin used his board rating to say that he passed the Local Board and said that once he gets hold of his license, he will follow it up immediately. Fortunately his elligibilty for CA came just about a month and a half. I can't believe it either but if it worked for him, I might as well try it.

Goodluck for all of us!

thanks for all the replies... u all are such a great help... im still processing all the needed requirements while waiting for my fingerprint card... godbless to us all....

No one can schedule an exam to test until they have received the ATT. That means that your application to a BON has been processed and accepted.

Paying Pearson-Vue does not get you a look at the dates that are available or anything else, until they have also received permission from the state.

And to clear up a few things, CGFNS exam used to be required by all, but that has not been the case in a few years. CA was actually one of the first that opted out of that.

And SSN# is not issued until you have gone thru the complete immigration process and are in the US and are ready to begin work. You must physically be in the US to even apply for it and have a valid visa that will permit you to work. Coming to the US on a tourist visa will not get you one.

Pearsonvue will send your ATT once they get confirmation from Ca which can happen as soon as you register or may take up to a couple of weeks
